Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rae Fon! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Sam Rinaldi! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Ivan Kurochkin and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fon tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Fon looks to clinch letting Rinaldi counter with a right hand. This fight brought to you by 5M nutrition - it's mmmmm tasty. Nice jab by Fon.
It looks like Sam Rinaldi has been cut. Fon thuds a left hand into Rinaldi's body. Fon shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Rinaldi napping and manages to drive through into side control! Fon lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Rinaldi tries to get back to half guard but can't. Rinaldi has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Fon tries to advance to mount but Rinaldi denies him. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Fon looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Rinaldi dodges the ground and pound from Fon. Rinaldi wants to control but Fon postures up. Rinaldi tries to get back to half guard but can't. Rinaldi takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Fon lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Rinaldi down.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fon working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Rinaldi tries to bench press Fon off him but Fon keeps the position. Rinaldi manages to work his way to half guard, despite Fon's best efforts. Rinaldi is looking to control Fon's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Rinaldi avoid being mounted? Rinaldi is looking to improve his position.
Fon throwing shots but Rinaldi is blocking nicely. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rinaldi can do anything to dispel that myth. Fon is thwarting Rinaldi's attempts to control the position. Rinaldi wants to get back to full guard. Fon not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Rinaldi trying to control from the bottom.
Rinaldi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Fon blocks the strikes from Rinaldi.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rinaldi throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Rinaldi is trying to maintain the position but Fon is very close to passing his half guard. Rinaldi is looking to improve his position.

Fon landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Rinaldi gets full guard. Fon postures up in Rinaldi's guard and throws a big left but Rinaldi blocks it. Rinaldi wants to sweep here but Fon controlling him for the moment. Fon is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Rinaldi doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Fon is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Fon wants to pass the guard but Rinaldi is keeping the position. Rinaldi tries to strike from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rinaldi swivels though and keeps the full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Fon accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Fon working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Rinaldi preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Fon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rinaldi swivels though and keeps the full guard. Rinaldi looking to hit a scissor sweep but Fon is one step ahead there. Rinaldi lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Fon wants to stand up but Rinaldi is controlling him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rinaldi wants to control from the top but Fon keeps moving. Fon is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Fon manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Fon moves into range and connects with a jab. No luck with that takedown attempt from Fon. Fon tries to clinch but Rinaldi moves out of range. Fon with a poor takedown and Rinaldi counters with a series of strikes. Fon will be more careful next time no doubt. Fon looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Fon. Rinaldi tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rae Fon. That's going to take a lot out of him. Fon is breathing heavily. Rinaldi bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Rinaldi prevents Fon from escaping the position. Fon on the wrong end of some ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rae Fon dominated that round. The cut man is working on Sam Rinaldi's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Rinaldi tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Fon takes one on the button.
Fon is rocked! Rinaldi throws an uppercut from hell that sends Fon clean off his feet! He's out cold! Rinaldi stands back and admires his work as he thinks about that KO of the night award that is surely being wrapped up for him back stage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:14 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Sam Rinaldi! Sam Rinaldi retains his middleweight title! Sam Rinaldi bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
