Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Antonio Salieri (ranked 2765 p4p, 308 weight class) and Head Coach (ranked 2199 p4p, 254 weight class). Salieri comes to the cage accompanied by DMX - Ain’t No Sunshine. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Antonio Salieri!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 24 - 3, fighting out of London, Head Coach!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Jonathan Paton and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coach lets loose with a powerful body kick. Salieri will feel that in the morning.
Coach misses with a body shot.
Coach lands with a cross.
Coach misses the shot to the body.
Coach doesn't manage to clinch there - Salieri circles away.
Coach connects with a crisp jab.
Coach lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Coach throws a hook to the side of Salieri's head but Salieri sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Coach closes the distance but Salieri moves to the side
and Salieri counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Coach tries a head kick but it misses.
Coach moves out of range as Salieri throws a body kick.
Coach cracks Salieri with a good jab.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Salieri throws a right and a left that both miss.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Coach! But no joy.
Coach uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Salieri.

We've been told by Salieri's head coaches at Mello MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

As Coach looks to move away, Salieri throws a big counter combo but Coach just gets out of the way.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Salieri shoots in and bounces Coach off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Coach looks to land a combination but Salieri avoids it well.

Coach is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Salieri.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Coach enables Salieri to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Coach manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Coach has momentary wrist control but Salieri slips an elbow through the middle.
Salieri is looking to work some ground and pound but Coach has wrist control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Head Coach will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Coach connects with a single shot there.
Coach throws a hook to the side of Salieri's head but Salieri sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Salieri swings for the body but Coach moves out of range.
Salieri misses with a takedown attempt - Coach sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Coach misses with a looping left.

Coach rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Salieri moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Coach slips a jab and a cross from Salieri.

and Salieri counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Salieri in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Salieri makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Salieri's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Salieri connects with a couple of short punches.
Coach keeping moving, preventing Salieri from controlling successfully.
Salieri postures up and lands a big shot to Coach's brow.
Salieri content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Antonio Salieri overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Salieri postures up in Coach's guard and throws a big left but Coach blocks it.
Salieri is looking to work some ground and pound but Coach has wrist control.
Coach is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Coach fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Salieri seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Salieri shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Coach as he jumps to the side.
Coach connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Coach moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Salieri wants to clinch up but Coach keeps it at a distance.
Coach throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Salieri has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Coach finds it's way round the side to connect with Salieri's head.

It looked like Salieri wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Coach struggles to land a body shot inside as Salieri controls his hands.
Coach is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Salieri is defending well for now.

Head Coach showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Salieri tries to land knees in the clinch but Coach avoids the damage to the body.

Coach lands an elbow that stopped Salieri in his tracks for a moment.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Coach just misses with a elbow thrown towards Salieri's brow.
Salieri drops down looking for an ankle pick but Coach pulls his leg out and moves away.
Coach lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Coach. Salieri shrugs it off though.
Coach slips a jab and a cross from Salieri.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Salieri moves out of range as Coach throws a body kick.
Salieri lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Coach connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Salieri's hands.
Salieri looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Salieri shoots for a double leg takedown but Coach sprawls well. He's pushed Salieri's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Coach lands a nice looking body shot.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Coach clinches up against the cage.
Salieri stalling.
Coach works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Coach throws an elbow that misses.
Coach lands with a light punch inside.
Salieri misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Coach misses with an elbow over the top.
Coach tries to throw a body punch but Salieri avoids it by throwing Coach back against the cage.

Salieri is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Salieri seems to have got his legs back now.
Salieri can't find room to land a body shot as Coach controls the action.

Head Coach comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Coach winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Head Coach tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
