PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Able Archer (ranked 3446 p4p, 191 weight class) and Duke Nukem (ranked 4042 p4p, 210 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Able Archer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Duke Nukem!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nukem works over Archer's head and body with a nice combination.
Archer tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Nukem was well out of range. Poor timing from Archer.
Nukem throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Archer takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Archer misses with a body shot
and Nukem counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Archer thows a left - swing and a miss!
Nukem looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Archer scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Nukem doesn't seem bothered though.
Nukem lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Archer at a distance.
Archer tries to move into range but Nukem moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nukem looks to land a left hand but Archer moved out of range nicely.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Nukem creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Archer ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Archer no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Archer working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Nukem doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Nukem manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Archer escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nukem gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Archer is on top in guard.

Nukem is trying to stand up here but Archer is controlling him well.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Nukem can do anything to dispel that myth.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Archer throwing shots but Nukem is blocking nicely.
Nukem really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Archer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Archer is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Nukem doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Archer.

Nukem throws a big uppercut that drops Archer! More strikes from Nukem and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Archer lies dazed against the cage as Nukem celebrates with his cornermen!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Duke Nukem!
After the fight, Duke Nukem was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
