PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Blair Bell (ranked 5357 p4p, 0 weight class) and Toby Charlton (ranked 5381 p4p, 0 weight class). Charlton has chosen gangsta's paradise as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Blair Bell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Toby Charlton!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Viktor Lagutenko and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Charlton throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
It looked like Bell was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Charlton moves into the clinch.

Charlton wants the takedown. Bell is fighting it off but Charlton persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Bell's guard against the cage.
Bell is wriggling around but Charlton manages to pass to half guard.

Charlton perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bell looks like he's trying to stand up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bell is looking to improve his position.

Charlton content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Bell really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Charlton passes the guard and advances to mount!
Bell tries to control the position but Charlton now has his back.
Charlton really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Bell.

Charlton is punishing Bell with strikes - can he finish him?!
Bell covers up after that shot from Charlton.
Bell trying to control the hands but Charlton won't let him.
Bell rolls, trying to escape but Charlton keeps control of the position.

Bell is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Charlton.
Bell takes a big shot to the side of the head.
Bell wants to get back to his feet.

Charlton working for the choke.
Charlton is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Charlton looking to break Bell's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Bell remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Charlton will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Charlton just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Bell trying to control but not successfully.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
What can Bell do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Toby Charlton dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Charlton throws a push kick but Bell slaps the foot to one side.
Bell looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Charlton throws a body kick that misses.
Bell tries for a takedown but Charlton circles away easily

and Charlton counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Charlton.

Charlton jumps into guard, dragging Bell to the mat.
Bell trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Charlton has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Charlton is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Charlton controlling the pace.
Charlton looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Bell with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Charlton is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Bell wants to get back to his feet.
Charlton tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Bell.
Charlton with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Charlton is continuing to stall.
Bell wants to control but Charlton is keeping busy.
Charlton wants to stand up but Bell is controlling the position.
Charlton is pressing down on Bell's thigh, looking to free his foot. Bell is holding on for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Charlton slows the pace down in half guard.
Bell trying to control but Charlton postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bell shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Charlton but Charlton pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Blair Bell. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Charlton looks to score with a jab to the body but Bell is just out of range.
Bell gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Charlton holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Bell tries to stall but Charlton uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Bell tries to land knees in the clinch but Charlton avoids the damage to the body.

Charlton has picked Bell up - he's going for a ride! Charlton dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Charlton stands up out of the half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bell avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Charlton.
Bell tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Charlton controlling the pace for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Toby Charlton showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Bell's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Bell gets caught napping as Charlton dives in and scores a takedown. Bell manages to retain guard.
Bell wants to get back to his feet but Charlton passes into half guard.


Charlton is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Bell defends it well.
Bell scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Charlton manages to mount him!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Charlton looking to secure an arm triangle but Bell defends it well.
Charlton is in the full mount, landing strikes.


Bell is rocked!

Charlton working for a guillotine from mount but Bell is in no mood to give up.
Oh Bell is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Charlton postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Bell badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Charlton around the waist but Charlton pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Charlton is the winner by TKO! Charlton jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Toby Charlton!
Post fight, an emotional Toby Charlton said 'IM NOT SUPRISED MOTHERFUCKER'.
