PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ali Bagov (ranked 2364 p4p, 86 weight class) and Konstantin Kuznetsov (ranked 3710 p4p, 119 weight class). Bagov kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Russian National Anthem. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ali Bagov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Konstantin Kuznetsov!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bagov decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Kuznetsov has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Bagov is on him like a limpet, forcing Kuznetsov back against the cage.
Bagov has Kuznetsov pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Kuznetsov manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
A nice left hand lands by Kuznetsov.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Bagov.
Bagov tries for a takedown but Kuznetsov manages to get underhooks.

Kuznetsov keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Bagov's efforts to push away.

Bagov is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kuznetsov is aware though and is defending well.

Kuznetsov got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bagov has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kuznetsov has managed to get both his arms back between Bagov's legs - danger averted.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bagov manages to work his way to half guard, despite Kuznetsov's best efforts.

Bagov fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Kuznetsov to the ground. Bagov is now in Kuznetsov's guard.

Bagov postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Kuznetsov is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Bagov, into his guard.

Konstantin Kuznetsov has got the better of the ground game so far.
Bagov bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kuznetsov's guard.


Bagov drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Kuznetsov manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Bagov has Kuznetsov in his guard.

Bagov is pulling down on Kuznetsov's head. It's preventing any offense from Kuznetsov, at least for the moment.

Kuznetsov throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

It looks like Konstantin Kuznetsov has been cut.
Kuznetsov takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

I would just about give that final round to Konstantin Kuznetsov.
I've got Kuznetsov winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In his post fight interview, Konstantin Kuznetsov started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
The defeated Ali Bagov had this to say: 'This loss is because i have to fight in america cause no one wants to fight me in my country.'.
