PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dave Watson (ranked 1656 p4p, 191 weight class) and Armand Kouyate (ranked 3282 p4p, 340 weight class). Armand Kouyate told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kouyate lands with a right hand.
Kouyate misses with a lunging right hand

and Watson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Watson scoring with punches to the head and body.
Watson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Kouyate really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Watson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Watson throwing strikes from guard but Kouyate blocks nicely.
Watson is working Kouyate over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Watson stays in close to Kouyate's body and controls the position.

It looks like Armand Kouyate has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Watson is in close to Kouyate's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Watson is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Kouyate is rocked!

The cut above Armand Kouyate's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Watson loads up on a big left hand. Kouyate felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Watson looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Kouyate can't hide his disappointment, as Watson celebrates the victory.
