Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Zachary Hurst (ranked 25125 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marco Guerrieri (ranked 6528 p4p, 0 weight class). Marco Guerrieri has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Zachary Hurst!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Marco Guerrieri!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Sam Margolis and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hurst throws a sloppy head kick and Guerrieri moves out of range easily.
Guerrieri tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hurst paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hurst appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Guerrieri keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Guerrieri misses with a double jab
and Hurst counters with a left and a right that stings Guerrieri.
Hurst misses with an uppercut.
Hurst throws a half hearted mid kick.

Hurst closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Hurst has Guerrieri pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Hurst pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Guerrieri tumbling to the mat - Hurst dives into Guerrieri's guard.

Guerrieri kicks Hurst off and gets to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Guerrieri shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hurst napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Guerrieri decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Guerrieri shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hurst is trying to defend but Guerrieri finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Hurst could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Guerrieri connects with a nice short shot to Hurst's temple.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hurst has hold of Guerrieri's hands but Guerrieri slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Hurst is looking for a sweep. Guerrieri is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Guerrieri is looking to take a break and control but Hurst is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Hurst is looking to control Guerrieri's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hurst avoid being mounted?
Guerrieri looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Hurst is trying to get back to full guard.
Guerrieri blocks the strikes from Hurst.
Guerrieri is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Hurst wants to improve his position but Guerrieri is controlling well.
Hurst regains full guard. Nicely done.
Guerrieri must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Guerrieri wanted to stand there but Hurst had control of the position.
Guerrieri working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Hurst's head.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Hurst keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Guerrieri's head.
Hurst is looking to work some ground and pound but Guerrieri has wrist control.

That was a close round but I would say that Zachary Hurst will probably get the nod.

Hurst shoots for a double leg takedown but Guerrieri sprawls well. He's pushed Hurst's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Guerrieri shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hurst napping and manages to drive through into side control!

and Hurst decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Guerrieri's guard.

Guerrieri isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Hurst stacks Guerrieri on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Hurst!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hurst seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Guerrieri moves into full guard.
Hurst chips away with some ground and pound.
Hurst stands up over Guerrieri, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Guerrieri is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Hurst lands a couple of digs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Zachary Hurst dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Hurst is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Guerrieri's half guard.

Hurst got a little sloppy there for a moment and Guerrieri has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hurst has managed to get both his arms back between Guerrieri's legs - danger averted.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Hurst takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Hurst counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Hurst changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Guerrieri tries to avoid it but Hurst manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Guerrieri to the ground. Guerrieri escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Guerrieri holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Hurst pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Marco Guerrieri seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hurst breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Hurst is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Guerrieri.
The fight stays on the outside here - Guerrieri looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Hurst closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Guerrieri's guard.

Zachary Hurst is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Guerrieri working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hurst doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hurst manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Zachary Hurst.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hurst, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
