Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Broseph Stalin (ranked 2909 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Penn (ranked 3637 p4p, 0 weight class). Penn has chosen Everything in its right place as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Broseph Stalin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
20 - 14 - 2, fighting out of Hilo, James Penn! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Roger Salmon and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stalin moves into the clinch. Penn is trying to break the clinch but Stalin has him pressed against the cage. Stalin wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Stalin lands a takedown into guard.
Stalin got a little sloppy there for a moment and Penn has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Stalin has managed to get both his arms back between Penn's legs - danger averted. Penn looking to hit a scissor sweep but Stalin is one step ahead there. Stalin has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Penn has momentary wrist control but Stalin slips an elbow through the middle. Penn trying to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Stalin accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Penn managing to control the position. Stalin in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Penn trying to keep a closed guard but Stalin is proving a slippery customer.
Stalin throws a strike but Penn rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Stalin looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Stalin wants to stand but Penn is controlling the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Penn is stalling in the full guard. My spies in Steel's Grappling Penn inform me that Penn has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Stalin is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Stalin tries to land a sweep but no joy. Stalin keeping moving, preventing Penn from controlling successfully. Penn chips away with some ground and pound. Stalin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Penn doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Penn manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Stalin can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Penn controls the pace.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stalin trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Stalin is trying to control the position but Penn postures up. Penn not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Penn pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Stalin is keeping the position for now. Stalin keeping moving, preventing Penn from controlling successfully. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Penn loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Penn is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Penn looks to score with a jab to the body but Stalin is just out of range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Penn stuffs the takedown. Penn tries to clinch up. Stalin fails with the takedown. Penn throws a leg kick but Stalin checks it. Penn defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Stalin. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Broseph Stalin. That's going to take a lot out of him. Stalin avoids a punch combination nicely.
Stalin wants to clinch up but Penn keeps it at a distance. Penn tries to clinch but Stalin moves out of range. Stalin throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

Penn drops down looking for an ankle pick but Stalin pulls his leg out and moves away.
Penn tries to clinch up but Stalin circles away and keeps his distance. Penn tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Penn fails to land with a series of punches.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Stalin fails with an attempt to clinch.
Stalin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Penn swats him away and circles back towards the center. Penn circles away from the clinch attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Broseph Stalin will probably get the nod. That's time! Stalin's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Stalin looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Penn! Check out the look on Stalin's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Stalin looks up at the clock and then as Penn takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Stalin smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Penn tries to get back to half guard but can't. Stalin is chipping away with strikes.
Penn can't do much from the bottom here. Stalin tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Stalin wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Penn, who protects the arm well. Stalin cracks Penn with a big right hand but Penn just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stalin working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Stalin goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Penn rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Stalin's guard! Nice work there by Penn! Penn wants to control from the top but Stalin keeps moving. Stalin not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Penn looking to pass the guard. Penn slips nicely into half guard. Stalin wants to improve his position but Penn is controlling well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stalin is doing well to control the position and prevent Penn from advancing to side control. Stalin is staying active underneath Penn, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Penn is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Penn wants to pass the guard but Stalin is defending well. Penn thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Stalin wants to improve his position but Penn is controlling well.
Penn is looking for a kimura here.
Stalin is pressing down on Penn's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Penn is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Stalin is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Stalin has his foot on Penn's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Penn works his way back into a safe position though. Penn forces his way into half guard. Stalin is trying to get back to full guard. Penn is looking for a kimura but Stalin is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Penn to get the leverage. Penn slows the pace down in half guard. Penn is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Stalin defends it well. Stalin won't allow Penn to pass to mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Penn is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Stalin doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Penn. Penn wants to lay and pray for a moment but Stalin keeps working. Stalin is trying to get back to full guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Stalin has hold of Penn's hands but Penn slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Stalin is looking for a sweep. Penn is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Broseph Stalin dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Penn tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Stalin blocks a jab. Penn keeps Stalin at a distance using the push kick. Penn thows a left - swing and a miss! Stalin tries to clinch there but Penn circles away.
Penn feints the counter takedown. Stalin looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Penn is looking for the big counter here. Stalin blocks a head kick by Penn.
Stalin leaves Penn with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Penn is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Stalin's half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stalin is looking to control Penn's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Stalin avoid being mounted? Stalin tries to kick Penn off but Penn keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Penn lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Stalin trying to control from the bottom.
Penn lands with a punch from half guard. Penn stops Stalin from getting back to his feet.
Stalin is trying to maintain the position but Penn is very close to passing his half guard. Penn looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Stalin with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Penn seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Stalin trying to control from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Penn throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Stalin is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Penn's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Penn's back! Stalin doesn't have the hooks in and Penn manages to turn into his guard.
Penn controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Penn stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stalin swivels though and keeps the full guard. Penn has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Stalin to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Penn is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Stalin pulls down on the head and he's put Penn to sleep! This one is all over!
