Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Victor Kowalevitz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jose Tapia!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kowalevitz fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Kowalevitz drives through with a takedown into Tapia's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Tapia wants to sweep here but Kowalevitz controlling him for the moment.

Tapia has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kowalevitz can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Kowalevitz trying to control the position from guard on top but Tapia is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kowalevitz is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Kowalevitz sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Kowalevitz passes into half guard.
Tapia is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Tapia is staying active underneath Kowalevitz, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Kowalevitz is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Kowalevitz is trying to control the action in half guard but Tapia is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Kowalevitz trying to mount his opponent but Tapia defends it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tapia manages to get to full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Tapia is on top in guard.

Kowalevitz not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Kowalevitz is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Tapia defends well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kowalevitz is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Tapia has his hands clasped together but Kowalevitz extends and breaks Tapia's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Kowalevitz.
