Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tom Lester!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Knuckle Up !
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Vladimir Khabensky and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Up feints and as Lester raises his hands in defense, Up changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lester really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Lester working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Up doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Up manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Lester manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Up manages to get himself to full guard.

Lester will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Lester stands up and waves to Up to follow him.
Up tries a head kick but it misses.
Lester seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Up shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Up showed some decent athleticism there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lester is on top in guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Up can do anything to dispel that myth.
Lester postures up.
Lester wants to control from the top but Up keeps moving.

Lester stands up from Up 's guard - Lester perhaps looking for a knockout.

Up clinches up with Lester and pushes him back against the cage.

Lester breaks from the clinch.
Up throws a sloppy head kick and Lester moves out of range easily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Lester enables Up to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Lester manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Up told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Up looks winded!
Up is looking to pass into half guard but Lester pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Lester is in guard.


Up is working an open guard so Lester takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Lester misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Up gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Up is looking to stand back up but Lester counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Up .
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lester thows a huge punch but Up dodges it nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Up is refusing to be controlled, as Lester sits in half guard.
Lester perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Up wants to control but Lester is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Lester is trying to control. Up wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Lester decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Up shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Lester napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Lester explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Lester shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Up as he jumps to the side.

and Up moves into the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tom Lester. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Lester tries to work over Up 's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Up shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Up showed some decent athleticism there.
Lester manages to get to full guard.
Lester bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Up 's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lester got a little sloppy there for a moment and Up has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lester has managed to get both his arms back between Up 's legs - danger averted.
Up is breathing heavily.
Lester scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Lester makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Up working a defensive guard but Lester manages to pass into side control anyway.

Up takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Lester wants to lay and pray for a moment but Up keeps working.
Lester grinds an elbow into Up 's temple.

Up darts in and clinches Lester up against the cage.

Lester is trying to break the clinch but Up is controlling him.
Lester tries to circle away but Up has him pinned against the cage.
Lester doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Up jumps guard and drags Lester to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Lester decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Up , up you get!
Lester connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Lester swats away the attempt to clinch by Up .
Lester is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Up can do to turn this around?
Up wants to clinch up but Lester keeps it at a distance.
Lester avoids the head kick by Up .

Up gets a takedown into half guard.
Lester has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Up is working away from the top position though.
Lester moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Lester pushes Up off and scrambles back to his feet.
Lester shoots in for a takedown but Up shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Up tries to clinch but Lester is having none of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lester throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Up 's waist but Up gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lester off to one side.

Lester avoids a wild elbow strike from Up .

Lester pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Up throws a sloppy head kick and Lester moves out of range easily.
A little feinted left hand from Lester on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Lester fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Up to the ground. Lester is now in Up 's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Lester stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Lester tries to score a power double leg takedown but Up sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lester somewhat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Up stuffs the takedown attempt from Lester. Lester gets slowly back to his feet.
Lester avoids a kick to the body.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Nice elbow from Lester.

Up breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
The fight stays on the outside here - Up looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Up throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Lester tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Up is in Lester's guard.
Up takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Lester is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Lester is looking to take a break and control but Up is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Up tries to get to full guard but Lester has control of the leg.

Lester stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Up scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Knuckle Up has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Lester gets back to full guard.
Up wants to get up but he can't break Lester's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Lester wants to control from the top but Up keeps moving.

Lester gets to his feet - Up follows without any prompting.
Lester fails with the takedown.
Up tries to clinch up.
Lester tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Up manages to circle out of the way.

Lester checks a low kick from Up .
Lester tries to counter by clinching up but Up breaks away and moves out of range.
Knuckle Up seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Lester.

Up looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Lester pushes Up off and gets back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
No luck for Lester with that takedown attempt.
Tom Lester is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Up swinging wildly here.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Knuckle Up .
I think Lester has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
