Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Vasilios Nicko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and randy hedderick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). randy hedderick struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 156.6lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Vasilios Nicko has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
hedderick tries to clinch there but Nicko circles away.
Nicko shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
hedderick drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Nicko bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in hedderick's guard.
hedderick is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
hedderick had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Nicko is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. hedderick Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Nicko's back instead.
hedderick controlling well, preventing Nicko from escaping the position.
Nicko is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Nicko trying to control the hands but hedderick won't let him.

You can see the frustration on Nicko's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
hedderick doesn't have the hooks in and Nicko manages to turn into his guard.
