PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wladimir Yaroslev (ranked 915 p4p, 51 weight class) and Kimi Loiri (ranked 1669 p4p, 84 weight class). Yaroslev comes to the cage accompanied by Man with a Plan. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Kimi Loiri was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Wladimir Yaroslev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kimi Loiri!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Francis DeMontford and Ben Hemmingworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Loiri looks to throw the jab but Yaroslev is out of range.
No joy there for Loiri, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Yaroslev attempts a counter takedown but Loiri avoids it well and moves away.
Yaroslev fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Yaroslev scores with a hook.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Yaroslev.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Yaroslev in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Loiri is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Yaroslev wants to take a breather but Loiri is having none of it.

Yaroslev not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Loiri is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Yaroslev pulls his head out easily.
Yaroslev missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Yaroslev is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Loiri doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Yaroslev.
Yaroslev stops Loiri from getting back to his feet.
Yaroslev trying to control the action but Loiri is working from the bottom.

Yaroslev looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Loiri is trying to get back to full guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Yaroslev not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Yaroslev will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Yaroslev is working for a kimura but Loiri is defending it quite comfortably.

Yaroslev trying to control from half guard but Loiri is working away.
Yaroslev is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Loiri is trying to maintain the position but Yaroslev is very close to passing his half guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Yaroslev lands a nice short elbow.
Yaroslev is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Loiri trying to control but Yaroslev postures up.

Yaroslev is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Loiri has managed to free his arm - good work.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Yaroslev lands a nice short elbow.
Loiri felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Yaroslev is trying to control the action in half guard but Loiri is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Loiri with the active half guard here but Yaroslev passes nicely into side control.
Yaroslev is looking to take a break and control but Loiri is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wladimir Yaroslev dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Loiri tries to clinch up but Yaroslev circles away and keeps his distance.
Loiri lands with a nice combination. Yaroslev backs away looking to recover.


It looks like Wladimir Yaroslev has been cut.
Loiri catches Yaroslev with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Yaroslev walks into a left hand.
Loiri throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Yaroslev drops down looking for a counter takedown but Loiri sprawls and moves away.
Yaroslev fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Loiri displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Yaroslev.
Yaroslev misses with a two punch combination.
Yaroslev shoots in for a takedown but Loiri shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Yaroslev fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wladimir Yaroslev. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Yaroslev digs a good hook to Loiri's body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Loiri lets his hands go wild with a nice combination. Left! Right! Uppercut! Spinning backfist! Yaroslev goes down and covers up as Loiri starts wailing on him! The ref watches the action closely before stepping in and putting a stop to the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kimi Loiri!
In defeat, Wladimir Yaroslev stepped up to the mic, saying 'I'm so pissed at myself right now. I should have been able to beat him. I guess I go back and try to do better next time.'.
