Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gil Shaffer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Carl Watson!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shaffer has his takedown stuffed
and Watson counters with a left and a right that stings Shaffer.
Watson tries to clinch there but Shaffer circles away.
As Watson looks to move away, Shaffer throws a big counter combo but Watson just gets out of the way.
Watson connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.


It looks like Gil Shaffer has been cut.

Watson moves into the clinch successfully.
Watson misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Shaffer could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Shaffer.
Shaffer avoiding damage.
Watson wants to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Watson wants to get back to striking at distance but Shaffer won't allow it.

Shaffer breaks the clinch.
Shaffer takes a head kick and keeps coming.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shaffer stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Shaffer wants it to stay on the feet.
Shaffer went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Watson shoots in looking for a takedown. Shaffer tries to sprawl out of it but Watson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Shaffer manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

and Shaffer counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Gil Shaffer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carl Watson.

Shaffer stuffs the takedown attempt from Watson. Watson gets slowly back to his feet.
Shaffer displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Watson.
Shaffer seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

and Shaffer counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Shaffer prevents Watson from standing back up.

Watson is defending against the submission attempts here by Shaffer.
Nice strikes from Shaffer there.
Shaffer prevents Watson from improving his position.
Shaffer working over Watson with some ground and pound. Watson looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Shaffer is trying for a kimura here. Watson looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Shaffer wins by kimura!
