Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Daniel Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcus Harris! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Jorge Garcia and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith gets the takedown into side control. Smith looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Smith wants to control but Harris is keeping him busy. Smith is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Harris is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Harris is looking to regain half guard here but Smith keeps moving and retains side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Check out the look on Smith's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
You can see the frustration on Harris's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Smith decides to stand back up. Smith steps back and let's Harris get back to his feet.

Smith makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Smith. Harris distracts Smith with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Smith is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Harris trying to control the position from guard on top but Smith is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Harris controls from within his opponent's guard. Smith is adopting a defensive guard. Harris stopping the sweep attempt from Smith. Harris trying to control the position from guard on top but Smith is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Harris being controlled here momentarily.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Harris kicks off Smith and gets to his feet. Smith closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Harris quickly recovers to half guard. Smith is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Harris is just riding it out for now. Smith eventually gives up the hold. Smith is thwarting Harris's attempts to control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith stalling. Harris trying to control from the bottom.
Smith sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Harris defending well though. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Smith seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Harris won't allow Smith to pass to mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Smith shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Smith was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Harris is looking for a sweep. Harris looking for a sweep but Smith has passed into full mount! Oh no! Smith takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Smith lands a big shot there that rocks Harris but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Smith tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Harris is squirming around, avoiding Smith's attempts to control the action. Smith controlling from mount. Daniel Smith overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Smith looking for a guillotine from mount but Harris is having none of it. BOOM! Smith connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Smith is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Harris to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Harris shrugs it off. Harris tries to hold on but Smith pushes him away. Smith looking to control and managing it successfully. Smith looking to control but Harris is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith controlling his opponent. Harris tries to hold on but Smith pushes him away. Smith looking to control and managing it successfully. Smith working for a submission but Harris is keeping him at bay. Smith controlling from the full mount. Smith is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Harris can do to turn this around? Smith raining down hammerfists from mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith lands a big elbow. Harris is squirming around, avoiding Smith's attempts to control the action. Smith looking to control and managing it successfully. Harris tries to lock up and control but Smith gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Smith prevents Harris from getting the reversal. Smith controlling the pace for now. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Smith raining down shots from the mount! Smith goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Harris is on top in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Daniel Smith dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Smith throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Harris was covering up waiting for the punch and Smith finishes the takedown easily into guard. The fighters are working up against the cage. Harris manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smith pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Smith closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Harris's guard. Smith trying to control but Harris is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Smith preventing the sweep. Smith slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Smith scores with punches from side control. Harris is looking for a sweep.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Harris wants to control but Smith postures up. Smith working the ground and pound. Smith grinds an elbow into Harris's temple. Harris holding on. Smith tries for a kimura but Harris is defending well. Harris being controlled for a moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith stands up. Daniel Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Smith gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Smith pushes Harris off and scrambles back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith dives in and scores a takedown into Harris's guard. Smith stands and throws Harris's legs to the side, diving into side control. This has been an exciting period of action! Harris takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Smith decides to stand back up. Marcus Harris has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Smith forces Harris back against the cage and clinches.
And that's the end of the fight! Daniel Smith showed his dominance in that final round. Well Smith has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
