Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mikael Brophy (ranked 651 p4p, 106 weight class) and Gerry Kelly (ranked 1095 p4p, 172 weight class). Brophy comes to the cage accompanied by Metallica - For Whom The Bell Tolls. Gerry Kelly has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 7 - 1, fighting out of London, Mikael Brophy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 10 - 1, fighting out of London, Gerry Kelly!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kelly throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

Kelly shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Brophy's guard.
Kelly controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Kelly working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Brophy's head.
Kelly wants to control from the top but Brophy keeps moving.
Brophy pulls Kelly in close to prevent any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brophy looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Kelly wants to pass the guard but Brophy is keeping the position.

Brophy is trying to control the position but Kelly postures up.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Kelly throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Brophy tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kelly is in Brophy's guard.

Brophy scores with a shot to the body.
Kelly lands a high kick!
Brophy misses with an uppercut. Kelly saw that one coming.
Kelly connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Brophy's hands.
Kelly shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Brophy but Brophy pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Kelly looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Kelly ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Brophy looks to land a left hand but Kelly moved out of range nicely.
Kelly moves out of range of the body kick from Brophy.

Brophy throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Kelly is trying to counter with his kicks.
Kelly takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Kelly closes the distance and clinches up with Brophy, looking for a takedown. Kelly pushes Brophy against the cage but Brophy circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Brophy digs a good hook to Kelly's body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kelly shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Brophy defends it nicely.

Mikael Brophy is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kelly displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Brophy throws out the jab.
Brophy swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Kelly.

Brophy lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Brophy tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Kelly tries a head kick but it misses.
Kelly takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Kelly dives in for a single leg takedown but Brophy sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Brophy was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Brophy tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kelly was well out of range. Poor timing from Brophy.
Brophy throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kelly tries for a takedown but Brophy circles away easily
and Brophy cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Kelly throws a body shot but no joy.
Mikael Brophy is winning the standup battle so far.
Kelly throws a sloppy head kick and Brophy moves out of range easily.
Brophy is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kelly.
Brophy takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Kelly feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Kelly tries to free his leg and advance position but Brophy is retaining full guard.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Kelly thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Kelly seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Brophy does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Kelly staying out of range there.
Kelly has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Kelly there as he acknowledges the shot.

Brophy gets caught flat footed, as Kelly shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Kelly trying to move into half guard but instead Brophy has managed to sweep!

Kelly wants to stand and escape but Brophy is having none of it.

Kelly scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Brophy slips a jab and a cross from Kelly.
Brophy swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Brophy takes one on the button.
Brophy takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A left and a right from Kelly both land. Nice combination.

Brophy swings for the body but Kelly moves out of range.
Kelly sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Kelly goes for a double leg but Brophy avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Brophy continues to drive forward.
Mikael Brophy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gerry Kelly.
Kelly throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Brophy throwing a counter right hand but Kelly manages to avoid it.
Brophy moves out of range as Kelly throws a body kick.
Brophy buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Kelly misses with a takedown

Kelly is breathing heavily.
Brophy dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Kelly. That did some damage!

Kelly jabbing away but nothing is landing.
A lazy left from Kelly finds it's target.
Kelly throws a sloppy head kick and Brophy moves out of range easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gerry Kelly showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Brophy defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kelly.

Kelly looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Brophy!
Kelly misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

and Brophy counters with a three punch combo that has Kelly backing up. Kelly nods at Brophy to acknowledge the strikes.

and Brophy counters with a low kick, right behind Kelly 's knee.
Gerry Kelly seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Brophy.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Brophy.
Kelly takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Kelly tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Kelly fails with the takedown.
Brophy swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Brophy throws a series of punches but Kelly avoids them all with ease.
Kelly lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Kelly.
Gerry Kelly is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Kelly shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Brophy has control of Kelly's left arm, preventing Kelly from doing any damage.
Brophy continues to stall.
Mikael Brophy has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Brophy has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Brophy is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kelly is aware though and is defending well.

Kelly throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Brophy.

Brophy works Kelly's body with a nice hook.
Kelly uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Brophy.

Kelly shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Brophy was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

and Brophy connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Brophy stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Brophy wants it to stay on the feet.
Brophy does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Kelly shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Kelly was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brophy wants to control but Kelly postures up.
Kelly wants to control but Brophy is keeping him busy.
Gerry Kelly has got the better of the ground game so far.

Brophy is looking to regain half guard here but Kelly keeps moving and retains side control.
Kelly trying to control the position but Brophy is working away.

Kelly decides to stand back up.
Kelly will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Crunch! Kelly slams his shin into Brophy's torso.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Brophy blocks a head kick by Kelly.
As Kelly looks to move away, Brophy throws a big counter combo but Kelly just gets out of the way.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Gerry Kelly.
I've got Kelly winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
