6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul McHeartney! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rhif Un! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Sosuke Kotani and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Un throws the left hand but McHeartney avoids the punch easily. Un misses with a straight left. The fight stays on the outside here - Un looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Un stuffs the takedown. The fighters circling - McHeartney throws out the jab but it was never going to land. McHeartney looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. McHeartney closes the distance but Un moves to the side and Un counters with a lovely straight right hand! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McHeartney gets tackled into the ropes by Un. Un maintains the clinch. McHeartney fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
McHeartney is defending well against a takedown attempt. We've been hearing reports that McHeartney has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. McHeartney can't find room to land a body shot as Un controls the action.
McHeartney misses with a punch on the inside.
That's one minute gone in the round. Un blocks an elbow strike. Un's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. McHeartney closes the distance and clinches. McHeartney lands with a short shot to the head. Un is leaning against McHeartney and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. McHeartney misses with the head strike.
McHeartney doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
McHeartney cracks Un with a nice body shot. Un blocks an uppercut.
Un lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down McHeartney. McHeartney is breathing heavily. A head punch blocked on the inside by Un. Un manages to break the clinch.
McHeartney circles away from the clinch attempt.
McHeartney loses concentration momentarily and Un pounces with a three punch combo! Right, left, right! McHeartney crashes face first to the mat, out cold! Un finishes this one with a fantastically precise combo! Great stuff.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Rhif Un! After winning the bout, Rhif Un thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility. Paul McHeartney was interviewed post fight and said 'FE GODWN NI ETO'.
