Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Daryl Henderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Timmy Latope!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Latope shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Henderson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Latope tries to free his leg and advance position but Henderson is retaining full guard.
Latope throws a big elbow that misses.
Latope has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Latope is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Latope stands up and waves to Henderson to follow him.

Latope instigates a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Latope drags the fight down to the ground.
Latope is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Latope has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Henderson off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Henderson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Latope looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Latope is working for a kimura but Henderson is defending it quite comfortably.
Henderson really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...

Henderson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Latope pulls his head out easily.
Latope throwing shots but Henderson is blocking nicely.

Latope thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Henderson's head.

Latope is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Henderson has managed to free his arm - good work.
Henderson avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Latope.
Henderson really is a fat lump.
Latope stalling.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Latope looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Latope has closed the distance and engaged Henderson in a clinch.
Henderson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Latope walks away with a smile on his face. Henderson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Latope throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Henderson appears to be looking for a big counter.
Henderson shoots in looking for a takedown. Latope tries to sprawl out of it but Henderson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Latope manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Latope clinches with his opponent.

Latope has clasped his hands together around Henderson's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Henderson tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Latope is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Latope misses with an elbow to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Henderson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Henderson is looking for a takedown.
Henderson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Latope just stands there and leans against the cage.
Henderson wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daryl Henderson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Latope drags the fight down to the ground.
Henderson wants to control from the top but Latope keeps moving.

Latope is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Latope had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Henderson defends it easily.

Henderson wants to stand but Latope has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Latope seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Latope looking for a guillotine here but Henderson defends easily.
Latope tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Latope manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Latope avoiding damage as Henderson throws knees to the body.
Latope gets underhooks to prevent Henderson's takedown attempt.
Henderson is looking to take this one to the mat.
Henderson doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Latope has picked Henderson up - he's going for a ride! Latope dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Henderson is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Latope jumps into side control!
Henderson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Latope on the ground.

Latope decides to stand up, so the ref orders Henderson to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Latope connects with a body shot that sends Henderson's belly button to the back.

Latope closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Latope lands in his opponent's guard.
Henderson is wriggling around but Latope manages to pass to half guard.
Henderson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Still in half guard, Latope seems content to control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Latope's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Henderson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Timmy Latope showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Latope goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.


It looks like Daryl Henderson has been cut.
Henderson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Latope manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Latope manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Henderson on his heels. He'll look to pass Henderson's guard now, I'm sure.
Latope is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Latope closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Henderson quickly recovers to half guard.

Latope tries to pass the half guard into mount. Henderson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Latope stands up and beckons Henderson to join him on the feet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Latope misses with a head kick.

Latope fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Henderson, pushing him back against the cage.
The referee calls for Latope to work.
Latope is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Latope lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Latope tries to break the clinch but Henderson is controlling the position.
Henderson is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Latope gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Latope drags the fight down to the ground.
Latope is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Latope trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Latope holds on and takes a little breather.
Latope is continuing to stall.
Henderson controls from within his opponent's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Latope bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Henderson's guard.

Latope is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Latope gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Latope pulls guard successfully.
Daryl Henderson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Timmy Latope is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Latope avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Timmy Latope comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Latope has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
