Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Big Mike (ranked 2537 p4p, 111 weight class) and Lucio Francisco Carmo (ranked 4497 p4p, 176 weight class). Mike's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Til I Collapse. Carmo has chosen Rolling Stones - Paint it, Black as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lucio Francisco Carmo!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Ren Mimura and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mike loads up on a big right hand but Carmo slips the punch.
Mike misses with a few strikes there.
Carmo is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

It looks like Big Mike has been cut.
Mike takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Mike looks to land a left hand but Carmo moved out of range nicely.

Carmo has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Carmo throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Mike because Carmo loaded up on that one.

Mike is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

A little feinted left hand from Mike on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Mike works the jab nicely.
Mike lands a nice hook to Carmo's body. Carmo takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

and Carmo counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Carmo is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Carmo's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Carmo throws a big right hand that misses.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Mike knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Carmo on the ground.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Carmo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Mike throws a jab but it's blocked by Carmo.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Mike throws a predictable looking body shot

and Carmo counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Carmo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Carmo is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mike defends it well.

Carmo in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Mike tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Carmo!
