Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Riggs (ranked 1585 p4p, 179 weight class) and William King (ranked 1640 p4p, 189 weight class). King has chosen Summer Sixteen By: Drake as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 7 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ryan Riggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 39 - 22 - 4, fighting out of Montreal, William King!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Dillan Fox and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Riggs takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Riggs checks the leg kick nicely there.
King jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.


It looks like Ryan Riggs has been cut.
A punch combination from Riggs misses.
Riggs tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but King was well out of range. Poor timing from Riggs.
Riggs takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Riggs keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Riggs throwing a counter right hand but King manages to avoid it.
A slow jab from King misses its intended target.
King just misses with a punch to the body.
Riggs wants to land a leg kick but King is out of range.
Riggs has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Riggs there as he acknowledges the shot.

Riggs tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and King is able to avoid easily.

We've been hearing reports that Riggs has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
King lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
King is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Riggs rather than just go for the knockout.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Riggs moves out of range as King strikes.
King misses the shot to the body.
Riggs went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Riggs throws a jab but it's blocked by King.
King looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
King pulls out of a head kick attempt.
King throws a body shot but no joy.
King throws the kick towards the body but Riggs avoids it.

Riggs looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Riggs keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Riggs shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with King but King pushes him off and we're back to square one.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ryan Riggs. That's going to take a lot out of him.

King gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Riggs works over King with some ground and pound from guard.
Riggs is working King over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Riggs accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Riggs looking to sit in guard and control but King gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


King got a little sloppy there for a moment and Riggs has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, King has managed to get both his arms back between Riggs's legs - danger averted.

Riggs wants to improve his position but instead King has moved into half guard.

King prevents Riggs from improving his position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Riggs wants to control but King is keeping busy.
Riggs is looking for a sweep. King is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Riggs manages to get to full guard.
King stands up out of Riggs's guard for a moment - Riggs manages to land a nice upkick.
Riggs wants to sweep here but King controlling him for the moment.
Riggs is working hard here to advance position.
King looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
King trying to control but Riggs is working from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ryan Riggs will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


King throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Danga de danga de dang - Riggs scores with a four punch combination!
Riggs throws an overhand right that lands on King's shoulder, as King tries to avoid the shot.
King fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Riggs has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Ryan Riggs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Riggs moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Riggs looks to land a right hand but King moved out of range.
Riggs throws a looping overhand right but King ducks down to avoid it.
Riggs rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but King moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Riggs looks to land a combination but King avoids it well.
A combination from Riggs does no damage.
And King responds with a good body kick, but Riggs manages to step out the way in time.
Riggs lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but King circles away quickly and effectively.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Riggs throws a sloppy head kick and King moves out of range easily.
King was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
King throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Riggs blocks the body kick.
A little feinted left hand from Riggs on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
King lands a nice looking body shot.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
King scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

No joy there for Riggs, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

King is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Riggs wants to hit a switch here but King passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Riggs there!

Riggs is looking to improve his position but King isn't that keen on the idea.
Ryan Riggs overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The referee warns Riggs that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

King takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

A slow jab from King misses its intended target.
Riggs bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Riggs shoots for a double leg takedown but King sprawls well. He's pushed Riggs's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

King lands a glancing blow to the side of Riggs's head.
Riggs lands with a nice combination. King backs away looking to recover.

King throws a low kick, looking for Riggs's leg but Riggs calmly moves out of range.

King attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

Riggs shoots in and bounces King off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

King not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Riggs trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but King manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

King is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Riggs is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Riggs tries to reverse the position but King maintains control.
King lands a couple of good shots and Riggs has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Riggs is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
King is hanging on to Riggs's back as he tries to escape.

King tries to get the hooks in deep but Riggs pushed the leg off.
What can Riggs do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

King controlling well, preventing Riggs from escaping the position.
Riggs prevents King from getting a body triangle.
King doesn't have the hooks in and Riggs manages to turn into his guard.

King is controlling Riggs's posture.
Riggs preventing the sweep.
King is adopting a defensive guard.
Riggs is working King over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

William King has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

King has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Riggs can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Ryan Riggs is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Riggs seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

William King comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Riggs has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
