Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nelson Collier (ranked 25415 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mick Mcgregor (ranked 5539 p4p, 501 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nelson Collier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mick Mcgregor!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, John Kavanagh and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcgregor looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Collier tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mcgregor manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Mcgregor feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Collier is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Collier looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Mcgregor is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Mcgregor won't allow Collier to sweep him here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Collier is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Mcgregor controls from within his opponent's guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mcgregor lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Mcgregor closes the distance and pushes Collier back into the cage.

Mcgregor pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Mcgregor throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Mcgregor is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Collier's half guard.
Collier is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

It looks like Mcgregor might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Mcgregor throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Collier controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Mcgregor shoots in and bounces Collier off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Collier has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Mcgregor is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Mcgregor is trying to break the clinch but Collier has him pressed against the cage.

With the fighters up against the cage, Collier throws an elbow but misses.
Collier keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Mcgregor's efforts to push away.

Collier escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Mcgregor uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Mcgregor closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mcgregor lands in his opponent's guard.

Collier tries to land a sweep but no joy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Collier is trying to hold Mcgregor in close to prevent damage but Mcgregor has managed to pass into half guard.
Mcgregor takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Collier moves into full guard.
Collier bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mcgregor's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Mcgregor tries to bum rush Collier with a series of wild strikes but Collier uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Mcgregor!
Collier tries a head kick but it misses.
Collier takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Mick Mcgregor seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Collier tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mcgregor swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Mcgregor changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Mcgregor throws a right hand that Collier ducks under and follows up with a left that Collier also avoids with ease.
Collier tries to clinch but Mcgregor is having none of it.
Decent striking displayed by Mcgregor there.
Mcgregor misses with a double jab.
Mcgregor fails to land with a series of punches.
A jab from Mcgregor does it's job there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mcgregor looks to land a combination but Collier avoids it well.
Collier seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Mcgregor lands with a straight right. Collier didn't see that one coming.
Mcgregor's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Mcgregor duly obliges.


Collier is rocked!
Mcgregor is breathing heavily.

After the fight, Mick Mcgregor was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
