Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Galen Hicks (ranked 8638 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carol Michalak (ranked 4891 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Galen Hicks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Carol Michalak!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Aafke Stam and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Michalak rushes Hicks and presses him up against the cage.
Hicks tries to pull guard but Michalak won't allow it.

Hicks misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Michalak.

Michalak pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hicks misses with a looping right.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Michalak has Hicks up against the cage in a clinch.

Michalak escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Michalak is trying to break the clinch but Hicks has him pressed against the cage.
Hicks struggles to land a body shot inside as Michalak controls his hands.

Hicks moves into range and clinches up with Michalak.

and Hicks counters with a nice double leg into side control. Michalak won't be happy with that.
Hicks tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Hicks goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Michalak has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Hicks but great work by Michalak.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hicks is not content to let Michalak control the position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Michalak breaks from the clinch.
Hicks really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Hicks went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Hicks ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Hicks no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Michalak stays in close to Hicks's body and controls the position.

Hicks is working an open guard so Michalak takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Hicks will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
A nice side step and Michalak releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Michalak manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Hicks keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carol Michalak dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Hicks closes the distance and clinches.
Hicks jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Michalak walks away with a smile on his face. Hicks gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Hicks gets tackled into the cage by Michalak. Michalak maintains the clinch.

Michalak pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Michalak misses with a body punch

and Hicks counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Hicks postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Hicks drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Michalak dives on top into guard.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Michalak wants to stand but Hicks has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

We've been informed that Michalak has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Hicks is working an open guard so Michalak takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

and Hicks counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Hicks drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Michalak manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hicks has Michalak in his guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Hicks is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Michalak defends well.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Hicks gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Michalak tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hicks paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Hicks drops down looking for a counter takedown but Michalak sprawls and moves away.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Michalak enables Hicks to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Michalak manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Michalak scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Hicks keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Hicks changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Michalak moves in looking to clinch but Hicks pushes him off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Carol Michalak will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Hicks is trying to control the position from the bottom.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Michalak wants to control from the top but Hicks keeps moving.
Hicks wants to sweep here but Michalak controlling him for the moment.
Michalak wanted to stand there but Hicks had control of the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Michalak is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Carol Michalak comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Michalak has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
