Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bernand Patterson (ranked 7767 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Reed (ranked 5746 p4p, 0 weight class). Reed has chosen Tupac ft 50 Cent - Get Up Remix as his entrance music. Tommy Reed has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bernand Patterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tommy Reed!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Frank Dennis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Patterson shoots in and gets a takedown into Reed's guard.

Reed has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Patterson off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Reed.
Patterson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Reed.
Reed shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Patterson as he jumps to the side.
Bernand Patterson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tommy Reed.
Reed fails to land with a series of punches.
Tommy Reed seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Reed fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Patterson manages to avoid it.
Patterson tries to close the distance and clinch but Reed swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Reed shoots in and bounces Patterson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Patterson wants to stand and escape but Reed is having none of it.
Reed content to stall in guard here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Reed wants to control from the top but Patterson keeps moving.
Patterson is trying to keep Reed in close.
Reed's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Reed pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Patterson is keeping the position for now.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Patterson throws a series of punches but Reed avoids them all with ease.
Patterson definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Patterson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Reed bucks up and tries to throw Patterson off but instead Patterson has got his back!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Reed covering up well under a series of strikes from Patterson.
Will Patterson go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Reed rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Patterson is fighting to break Reed's control of his arms but Reed is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Reed looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Reed seems keen to control Patterson's posture.
Patterson trying to control but Reed is working from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Reed throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tommy Reed dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Patterson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Reed has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Patterson is working away from the top position though.
Reed regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Patterson.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Patterson with a flurry of punches that miss.
Patterson wants to control from the top but Reed keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Reed trying to keep a closed guard but Patterson is proving a slippery customer.
Patterson trying to control the position from guard on top but Reed is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Patterson has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Reed to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Patterson is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Reed pulls down on the head and he's put Patterson to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Tommy Reed!
After winning the bout, Tommy Reed thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
