Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcelo Guantinez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Felipe Dias!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Matheus Silva and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown attempt by Guantinez or perhaps it was just good defense by Dias, which made it look bad.
Dias moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Marcelo Guantinez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Guantinez tries to keep at a distance but Dias has taken the fight into the clinch.
Guantinez looking for a takedown.
Guantinez blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Dias lands a body punch in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A right handed body shot lands from Dias.
Dias lands an elbow inside.
Dias pushes Guantinez back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Dias tries to work over Guantinez's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Guantinez looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Dias comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Guantinez avoids the elbow strike from Dias, against the cage.
Guantinez tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcelo Guantinez. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Guantinez lands a takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Guantinez stops Dias from standing up.
Guantinez lands a couple of elbows.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Guantinez advances to half guard.
Guantinez takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Dias tries to kick Guantinez off but Guantinez keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Guantinez works his way into side control.
Guantinez lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Dias down.
Guantinez scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Dias to see if he's OK.
Dias is looking to get back to his feet here but Guantinez is keeping cool and he's managed to take Dias's back.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Guantinez is cranking Dias's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Dias! He's tightened the choke and Dias is tapping out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Marcelo Guantinez!
