Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Paul Irvin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Boris Matusov! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Dillan Fox and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Matusov closes the distance and clinches up with Irvin, looking for a takedown. Matusov pushes Irvin against the cage but Irvin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Irvin leaves Matusov with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Irvin gets caught napping as Matusov dives in and scores a takedown. Irvin manages to retain guard. Irvin can't keep his opponent in guard - Matusov advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Matusov is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! Matusov is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Irvin is just riding it out for now. Matusov eventually gives up the hold. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Irvin is trying to get back to full guard.

Matusov tries for a kimura but Irvin is defending well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Irvin tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Matusov wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Matusov controlling his opponent. Matusov avoids the attempt from Irvin to control. Irvin stops Matusov from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. Irvin is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Spartans Gym that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet. Matusov trying to control but he's not successful this time. Irvin is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Matusov has taken his back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Irvin trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble. Irvin fending off the submission attempt from Matusov. Matusov is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Irvin has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Matusov has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Irvin is keeping busy.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Irvin breaks Matusov's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Boris Matusov dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Matusov shoots for a double leg takedown but Irvin sprawls well. He's pushed Matusov's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Nice takedown defense from Irvin. No joy for Matusov on that attempt. Irvin appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Matusov fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Paul Irvin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Boris Matusov. Irvin leaves Matusov with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Irvin displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Matusov. Matusov shoots in looking for a takedown but Irvin manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Matusov's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Irvin appears to be looking for a big counter. Matusov shoots in and gets a takedown into Irvin's guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Matusov avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Irvin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Matusov can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Matusov is stalling in the full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Matusov looking to pass the guard. Matusov has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Matusov wants to control from the top but Irvin keeps moving. Matusov wants to pass the guard but Irvin is keeping the position. Irvin working for a triangle but Matusov defends it easily.
Matusov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Irvin swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Boris Matusov has got the better of the ground game so far. Matusov pushing down on Irvin's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Irvin tries to get to full guard but Matusov has control of the leg. Matusov is working for a submission of some sort.

Irvin is refusing to be controlled, as Matusov sits in half guard. Irvin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Matusov tries to pass the half guard into mount. Irvin knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Matusov is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Matusov is looking for a kimura but Irvin is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Matusov to get the leverage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Matusov seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Irvin is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
