PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Don Damascus (ranked 5348 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mr Scarface (ranked 5424 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mr Scarface!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Michael Johnstone and David Hoff.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Damascus shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Scarface sprawls well. Scarface wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Damascus gets slowly back to his feet.

Damascus closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Damascus decides to stand back up. Damascus steps back and let's Scarface get back to his feet.
Damascus plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Damascus slips under a jab from Scarface.
Scarface connects with the punch.
Scarface changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Damascus enables Scarface to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Damascus manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Damascus will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Damascus pulls Scarface in close to prevent any damage.
Scarface wants to pass the guard but Damascus is keeping the position.
Damascus is looking to stand up but Scarface isn't so interested in that idea.
Scarface postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Scarface cracks Damascus with a solid left hand.
Damascus is breathing heavily.
Scarface throwing strikes but missing.
Scarface in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Scarface scoring with punches to the head and body.
Damascus tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Damascus avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Scarface with a flurry of punches that miss.
Scarface stands up over Damascus, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Damascus is rocked!
Scarface chips away with some ground and pound.
Oh Damascus is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Scarface really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Damascus. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Scarface arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Damascus's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Mr Scarface!
Mr Scarface decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
