PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Staszek Kalin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Spurdy Jay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Staszek Kalin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Spurdy Jay!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Paul Tew and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kalin closes the distance and pushes Jay back into the cage.
Kalin drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Kalin tries to pull guard but Jay won't allow it.
Jay is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Kalin pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Jay shoots for a double leg takedown but Kalin sprawls well. He's pushed Jay's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Jay looks to clinch

and Kalin counters with a single leg into guard. Jay didn't expect that.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

It looks like Staszek Kalin has been cut.
Jay sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Kalin is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

A close round but Spurdy Jay will probably get the nod.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Jay forces his way into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jay throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Jay not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Jay perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Jay gets control of Kalin's arms and successfully pulls guard. Jay will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

That was a close second round but I would say that Staszek Kalin will probably get the nod.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



Jay moves into the clinch.
Kalin goes for a takedown in the clinch but Jay prevents it.
Kalin wants to get back to striking at distance but Jay won't allow it.
Kalin tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Jay smiles and moves away.
Jay shoots in but Kalin avoids the takedown attempt easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jay looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A punch combination from Kalin misses.
Jay closes the distance but Kalin moves to the side
and Kalin counters with a good low kick that Jay was not able to check.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Jay tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kalin swats him away and circles back towards the center.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kalin wants to stand but Jay is controlling his posture from full guard.

Jay is striking from the bottom but Kalin uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Staszek Kalin.
I think Kalin has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
