The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dukes closes the distance and clinches.
Mcpherson is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Dukes to keep the fight standing.
Dukes's coach down at Cheese Factory was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Dukes's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Mcpherson is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Dukes pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Dukes closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Dukes decides to stand up, so the ref orders Mcpherson to his feet.

Dukes closes the distance and pushes Mcpherson back into the cage.
Mcpherson is trying to drag Dukes to the mat but Dukes just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Dukes is pressed up against the cage. Mcpherson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Dukes down to the mat. Dukes avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Dukes's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Dukes tightens his grip and picks Mcpherson up, before dumping him to the ground. Mcpherson manages to land in guard.
Mcpherson seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Mcpherson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Dukes makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Mcpherson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dukes on the ground.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Dukes's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Mcpherson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Dukes has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Dukes is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mcpherson sees it coming and defends easily.
Dukes wants to free his trapped foot but Mcpherson is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Mcpherson manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Dukes keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Dukes. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Mcpherson is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Dukes has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Mcpherson holds on and takes a little breather.
Mcpherson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Dukes drops back, looking for a kneebar! Mcpherson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Mcpherson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Mcpherson!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Mcpherson tries to score a body lock takedown but Dukes shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Mcpherson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Dukes walks away with a smile on his face. Mcpherson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Dukes shoots in and bounces Mcpherson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Dukes stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mcpherson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Mcpherson lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Mcpherson is fighting off a takedown attempt but Dukes is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Mcpherson to the mat. Mcpherson regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

I would just about give that final round to David Dukes.
I think Dukes has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
