Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brian Hardy (ranked 3696 p4p, 370 weight class) and Jed Knight (ranked 2643 p4p, 293 weight class). Jed Knight will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
28 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brian Hardy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jed Knight! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Reed Andrews and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Knight takes a swing at Hardy's ribcage but misses. Hardy looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Knight keeping full guard, as Hardy tries to pass. Hardy slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Knight looking for a sweep. Not yet Knight, not yet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hardy throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Hardy advances position into side control!
That's one minute gone in the round. Hardy tries for a kimura but Knight is defending well. Hardy trying to control the position but Knight is working away. Hardy content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hardy tries for a kimura but Knight is defending well. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. You can see the frustration on Knight's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Hardy advances nicely into full mount. Knight holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Hardy tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Knight keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hardy tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Knight is working to get back to half guard.
Hardy controlling his opponent. Hardy landing strikes from the mount and Knight is in trouble! Knight is squirming around, avoiding Hardy's attempts to control the action. Hardy working away from the top, dropping strikes. Hardy lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Hardy is trying to control here but Knight has managed to regain half guard.
Still in half guard, Hardy seems content to control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hardy passes to full mount! Hardy landing strikes, looking to finish! Hardy avoids the attempt from Knight to control. Hardy content just to control the position here. Knight is in all sorts of trouble here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Hardy controlling his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brian Hardy dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Hardy with a nice cross. A nice leg kick lands there from Knight. A lazy left from Knight finds it's target. Hardy keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Knight. Knight throws a jab when Hardy was well out of range. Knight takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Knight punishes Hardy's body with a nice straight punch. A momentary lapse in concentration from Knight enables Hardy to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Knight manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Hardy stopping the sweep attempt from Knight. Hardy tries to free his leg and advance position but Knight is retaining full guard. Hardy is working hard here to advance position. Hardy controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Hardy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hardy missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Knight is pulling down on Hardy's head. It's preventing any offense from Hardy, at least for the moment. Hardy wants to pass the guard but Knight is keeping the position. Knight avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Knight not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Knight is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hardy. Knight stuffs the takedown attempt from Hardy. Hardy gets slowly back to his feet. Knight lands a leg kick that knocks Hardy off balance momentarily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hardy misses with a body shot.
Knight misses the jab. Hardy throwing a counter right hand but Knight manages to avoid it. Knight works the jab nicely. Hardy misses with a double jab
and Knight connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Knight's coach down at mickeyharts the greatest was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Knight's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Hardy throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Knight pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jed Knight is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Knight misses with a looping left. Hardy throws a body shot but no joy. Hardy keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Knight. Hardy was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Hardy is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Knight can do to turn this around? Hardy misses with a body punch
and Knight counters with an outside leg kick.
Knight scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Hardy connects with a crisp jab. The fighters circling - Knight throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Hardy seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Hardy fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Knight manages to avoid it. A swing and a miss from Knight. Knight loads up on a big right hand but Hardy slips the punch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Knight scores with a kick to the body.
Knight lands an overhand right. Knight slips a jab from Hardy. Knight misses the shot to the body. Hardy half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Knight lands the left hand. Some wild striking there from Hardy.
Knight tries a quick counter leg kick but Hardy is wise to it. Knight tests Hardy's chin there with a solid looking shot. Knight swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Jed Knight seems to be getting the better of the standup. Knight's jab looks to have found its range, popping Hardy under the eye. Knight misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hardy.
Hardy thows a leg kick but Knight checks it and Knight counters with a nice leg kick. Hardy bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Knight's head backwards. Knight lands a jab to the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Hardy ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Knight moves away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Knight cracks a nice hook into Hardy's ribs. Hardy takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Knight thuds a left hand into Hardy's body. Hardy takes one to the side of the head.
A head kick misses from Knight. Hardy changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Knight looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Hardy throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Hardy happy to just control the position for now. Knight can't do much from the bottom here. The ground and pound from Hardy seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jed Knight showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Knight connects with a single shot there. Knight wants to land a leg kick but Hardy is out of range. Knight avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Knight fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Hardy. Knight showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hardy.
Knight missing with a left hand there. Hardy was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Knight lands with a nice body punch. Knight looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Knight misses the jab. Hardy appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Hardy scores with a leg kick.
Hardy shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Knight as he avoids it easily. Knight follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Knight digs a good hook to Hardy's body.

Hardy lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Knight circles away quickly and effectively. Hardy bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Knight misses with a body kick. Hardy fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Knight just misses with a punch to the body.
Hardy moves out of range of the body kick. Hardy will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Knight on the wrong end of a nice hook. Knight throws a leg kick but Hardy sees it coming and checks it nicely. Knight connects with the punch. Horrible takedown attempt by Hardy or perhaps it was just good defense by Knight, which made it look bad. Knight throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hardy misses with a wild combination.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Knight is looking to land body kicks. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Knight lands a nice looking kick to the body. Hardy takes a step back to recover. Knight throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Hardy slips under a jab from Knight. Jab by Knight. Jab, jab by Knight - just one landing. Knight throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Knight throws a body shot but no joy. Hardy throwing a counter right hand but Knight manages to avoid it. Knight feints and then cracks Hardy's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Hardy down. Hardy scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Knight lands a jab to the nose. Hardy gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Hardy on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Knight. Knight obviously looking to wear him down.

That's three minutes gone in the round. A slow jab from Knight misses its intended target. Knight misses with a wild body shot. Hardy is looking for a counter combo. Knight missing with a left hand there. Hardy was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Hardy tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Knight was well out of range. Poor timing from Hardy. Knight feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Hardy's calf. Hardy shoots in for a takedown but Knight shows good takedown defense. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brian Hardy. That's going to take a lot out of him. A chopping leg kick lands by Knight. Knight misses with a body shot.

Knight throws a body punch but Hardy moves out of range. Knight throws an overhand right that lands on Hardy's shoulder, as Hardy tries to avoid the shot. Hardy displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Knight throws out the jab. Knight lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Hardy moves out of range as Knight throws a body kick.
Knight throws a hook but Hardy avoids it easily. Hardy takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hardy on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Knight. Knight obviously looking to wear him down.
Hardy misses the jab. Hardy misses with a series of wild punches.
Knight looks to throw the jab but Hardy is out of range. This has been an exciting period of action! Knight throws a predictable looking body shot
and Hardy counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Knight throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Knight throws a nice outside leg kick. Knight avoids the body shot from Hardy.
Hardy tries for a takedown but Knight circles away easily and Knight counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. A good leg kick by Knight. A jab lands there for Hardy. Hardy slips a jab from Knight. Knight misses with a straight right. Hardy jabs Knight to the body, keeping him at a distance.
And that's the end of the fight! Jed Knight comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Knight has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
