Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dick Diaz (ranked 2168 p4p, 248 weight class) and Brandon Baldwin (ranked 2044 p4p, 228 weight class). Diaz's entrance music is Feiticeira. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baldwin lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

It looks like Dick Diaz has been cut.
Diaz throws a hook to the side of Baldwin's head but Baldwin sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
We've been hearing reports that Diaz has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Diaz thows a left - swing and a miss!
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Baldwin.
Diaz tries to clinch up
and Baldwin counters with a good, hard body kick but Diaz shrugs it off.
A nice leg kick lands there from Baldwin.
Diaz throws a looping overhand right but Baldwin ducks down to avoid it.
Diaz feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Baldwins jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Baldwin lands with a kick to the ribs.
Nice body punch from Diaz.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Baldwin lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Diaz circles away quickly and effectively.

and Diaz cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Diaz counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Diaz stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Baldwin throws a sloppy head kick and Diaz moves out of range easily.
Diaz punishes Baldwin's body with a nice straight punch.
Diaz takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Brandon Baldwin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Baldwin misses with a leg kick
and Diaz cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Diaz throws a lazy right hand but Baldwin sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Diaz throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Baldwin throws a leg kick which misses Diaz's front leg but catches the back leg as Diaz tries to avoid it.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Diaz checks a leg kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Diaz scores with a jab. Baldwin acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Baldwin throws a low kick but it's checked well by Diaz.
Baldwin throws a push kick but Diaz slaps the foot to one side.
Diaz dodges the punch combination from Baldwin.

Diaz throws a nice looking combination but Baldwin bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Baldwin throws a right hand that misses
and Diaz counters with a straight right hand.
Baldwin fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Diaz misses with a low kick.
Baldwin lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Baldwin.
Diaz lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

Oooooh!!! Baldwin has knocked Diaz down with a huge combo! Baldwin steps away and waves a wobbly Diaz back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Diaz is rocked!
Baldwin fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Diaz has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Oh Diaz is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Baldwin throws a nasty head kick that just misses. He throws another kick to the head of his opponent and almost takes it off! Diaz crumples to the floor and the fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Brandon Baldwin!
