Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Nordquist (ranked 3951 p4p, 307 weight class) and Leo Castellano (ranked 2596 p4p, 234 weight class). Castellano has chosen TESTIFY as his entrance music. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Nordquist!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Leo Castellano!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Alan Glass and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Castellano stuffs the takedown.
Nordquist shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Castellano counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Nordquist drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Nordquist trying to control the action but Castellano is working from the bottom.
Castellano is looking for a sweep.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Castellano is still trying to improve position.

Nordquist tries to advance to mount but can't.

Nordquist is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Castellano has escaped the position, nice work there.
Castellano is trying to improve his position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Castellano regains half guard.
Castellano is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Nordquist wants to stand but Castellano has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Nordquist works his way into full mount!
Castellano is wriggling around trying to escape.
Nordquist can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Castellano is looking to escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Castellano really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Nordquist trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Castellano taking shots to the head.
Nordquist controlling his opponent.
Castellano tries to lock up and control but Nordquist gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Nordquist looking to control but Castellano is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Nordquist takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Castellano tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Nordquist trying to control but he's not successful this time.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Castellano is bucking up trying to escape but Nordquist cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Castellano is desperately trying to improve his position but Nordquist has a good base and remains in mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nordquist tries to control but Castellano wriggling away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Nordquist dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Nordquist is defended easily by Castellano.
Nordquist shoots for a double leg takedown but Castellano sprawls well. He's pushed Nordquist's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Nordquist ducks under a wild hook from Castellano.
Castellano looks to throw the jab but Nordquist is out of range.
Nordquist looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Castellano is fending him off so far but Nordquist persists. Nope, Castellano circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Nordquist. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Castellano throws a shot from downtown. Nordquist moves away and avoids it.
Castellano swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Castellano ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Nordquist lands a head kick. Castellano smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Nordquist dives in and scores a takedown into Castellano's guard.

Nordquist looking to improve position, pressing down on Castellano's thigh with his hand. Castellano seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Nordquist paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Nordquist's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Castellano picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Leo Castellano!
Leo Castellano was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
In defeat, John Nordquist stepped up to the mic, saying 'Ringrost... i be back '.
