Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Abdul Abbahih! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Mitchell Hernandez! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Phil Schofield and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Abbahih bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Abbahih misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Hernandez is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Abbahih has just dragged him back down to the mat. Abbahih scoring with punches and elbows. Hernandez taking a bit of punishment here - Abbahih scoring with strikes. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Abbahih landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Abbahih working away. Hernandez is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Abbahih asserts his dominance and retains side control. Hernandez manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Abbahih is not content to let Hernandez control the position. Abbahih pushes Hernandez off and gets back to his feet. Hernandez scores with a one two! Abbahih had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Abbahih gets a takedown into half guard. Abbahih postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Hernandez to stand up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hernandez darts in looking for a takedown but Abbahih gets double underhooks and turns Hernandez into the cage. Hernandez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Abbahih's waist but Abbahih gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hernandez off to one side. Abbahih drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hernandez looks winded! Abbahih working the head and body with strikes.
Hernandez is rocked! Abbahih lands a strong strike to the head of Hernandez. That's dazed him! Abbahih looking to finish here. Hernandez is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Abbahih lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Abdul Abbahih!
