Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Tank Ispa! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
20 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Mike Megaton! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ispa throws a shot from downtown. Megaton moves away and avoids it. Ispa lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Megaton circles away quickly and effectively. Megaton throws out a counter right but Ispa avoids it with no problem. Ispa lands a jab to Megaton's midsection. Ispa throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Megaton makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Ispa tried to score with a low kick but Megaton checks it. Megaton is looking to slow Ispa down with leg kicks. Nice cross by Ispa.
It looks like Mike Megaton has been cut. Megaton lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Megaton misses with a low kick as Ispa jumps back. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A jab from Ispa misses. Megaton looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Some bone on bone action there as Ispa checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Ispa has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Megaton throws a lazy uppercut
and Ispa counters with a nice uppercut. Ispa moves in looking to clinch but Megaton pushes him off.
That's one minute gone in the round. A big left from Megaton misses. Ispa jabs Megaton right on the nose. Megaton blinks but takes it well. Ispa is looking to clinch. Megaton fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Megaton wants to clinch. Megaton takes a jab right on the kisser.
Ispa feints and as Megaton raises his hands in defense, Ispa changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Megaton is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Ispa wants to control from the top but Megaton keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ispa tries to free his leg and advance position but Megaton is retaining full guard. Ispa trying to control the position from guard on top but Megaton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ispa postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Megaton is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Ispa, into his guard.
Ispa has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Megaton doesn't defend quickly enough and Ispa has managed to lock this one up! Can Megaton escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Ispa on a fantastic submission victory.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Tank Ispa! Tank Ispa retains his light heavyweight title! After winning the bout, Tank Ispa thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
