Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
20 - 24 - 0, fighting out of London, Krzysztof Ostrowski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Joe Johnson! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Phil Schofield and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ostrowski slaps away a takedown attempt from Johnson, before circling back to the center of the mat. Ostrowski changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Ostrowski throws a body punch but Johnson moves out of range. The fight stays on the outside here - Johnson looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Johnson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Johnson fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Ostrowski attempts a counter takedown but Johnson avoids it well and moves away. Krzysztof Ostrowski has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Johnson. Johnson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Ostrowski, as that shot connected.
Johnson takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Ostrowski feints and as Johnson raises his hands in defense, Ostrowski changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Johnson can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ostrowski drops back looking for a leg! Johnson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Johnson manages to kick Ostrowski off! Ostrowski jumps back into Johnson's guard. Ostrowski works over Johnson with some ground and pound from guard. Johnson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ostrowski. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Ostrowski is stalling in the full guard. Ostrowski seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Johnson for as long as he can get away with. Ostrowski continues to stall.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Johnson is trying to keep Ostrowski in close.
Ostrowski stays in close to Johnson's body and controls the position. Ostrowski postures up in Johnson's guard and throws a big left but Johnson blocks it. Ostrowski postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Ostrowski slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Johnson is looking to stand back up but Ostrowski counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Johnson.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson wants to get back to full guard but Ostrowski has mounted him! Ostrowski controlling from the full mount. Ostrowski landing shots from mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ostrowski with good strikes from the mount here! Ostrowski has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Johnson is forced to tap!
