Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Blue Cup (ranked 1545 p4p, 182 weight class) and George Arias (ranked 2093 p4p, 242 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cup throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Arias forces Cup back against the cage and clinches. Cup working some nice short punches in the clinch. Cup gets a trip takedown into half guard. Arias looking for submissions off his back. Cup is looking for a kimura here.

Arias has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Arias wants to get back to full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Arias looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Cup is nestled in close to Arias, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Arias wants to get back to full guard. Cup is working for a submission of some sort.

Arias tries to get to full guard but Cup has control of the leg. Cup is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Cup decides to return to a standing position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Arias throws a body shot but no joy. Cup jabbing away but nothing is landing. Cup blocks a head kick by Arias.
Cup looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Arias is fending him off so far but Cup persists. Nope, Arias circles away and we're back to standing. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Blue Cup dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Cup throws a series of punches but Arias moves out of range. Cup rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Arias moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Arias chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Cup can pounce on him.
Arias avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Cup is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Arias can do to turn this around? Arias bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Cup's head backwards. Arias lands with a thumping leg kick.

and Arias counters with a low kick, right behind Cup 's knee. Arias tries a head kick but it misses.
Cup gets off balance looking for a body kick and Arias moves into the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Arias prevents a takedown attempt there.

Cup scores with a nice hook to the head. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Arias lands a right hand.

Cup's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Arias jumps guard.
Arias has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cup can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Arias escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cup gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Blue Cup overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Arias has momentary wrist control but Cup slips an elbow through the middle. Cup stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Arias swivels though and keeps the full guard. Arias isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Cup stacks Arias on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Cup! Arias is looking for a sweep. Cup is trying to get an arm triangle but Arias is defending well. Arias tries to buck Cup off but Cup is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cup scores with punches from side control. Arias is looking to regain half guard here but Cup keeps moving and retains side control. Cup is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Arias has escaped the position, nice work there. Cup wants to lay and pray for a moment but Arias keeps working. Arias is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Cup is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Cup controlling from mount. Cup tries to control but Arias wriggling away. Cup lands a big elbow. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Arias wants to control but Cup is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cup with the ground and pound from mount. Arias tries to improve his position but instead Cup has taken his back! Arias tries to roll but Cup sticks to his back.
Cup looking to break Arias's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Arias remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Cup will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Arias is trying to break free.
Cup tightening his grip on Arias, looking for the choke. Arias is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Cup gets his way!

Arias throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Arias stands up over Cup, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Arias pushing down on Cup's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Blue Cup will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Arias misses with a looping right. Cup looks to land a combination but Arias avoids it well. Cup bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Blue Cup seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cup pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Cup throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Arias counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Arias. Arias is working Cup over against the cage. Arias misses with the head strike.
Cup has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Arias is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Arias jumps guard.

George Arias has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Arias scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Cup wants to stand back up but Arias manages to pass into side control.

Cup controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Cup wants to get back to his feet but Arias drags him back down. Blue Cup is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Arias working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
