Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Danny Mc Elroy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vandall Savage! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Gregory Folan and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Savage throws a body shot but no joy. Mc Elroy takes a shot right to the bread basket. We've been hearing reports that Mc Elroy has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Mc Elroy slips a jab from Savage. Mc Elroy tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Savage swivels and escapes. Savage feints and as Mc Elroy raises his hands in defense, Savage changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Mc Elroy keeping full guard, as Savage tries to pass. Mc Elroy looking to hit a scissor sweep but Savage is one step ahead there. Mc Elroy is looking for a triangle but Savage pushes his legs off easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mc Elroy seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mc Elroy has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Mc Elroy shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Savage manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mc Elroy throwing strikes from guard but Savage blocks nicely. Mc Elroy wants to control from the top but Savage keeps moving. Mc Elroy landing some decent shots from guard. Savage looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Mc Elroy slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Savage looking for a sweep. Not yet Savage, not yet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mc Elroy trying to control the position from guard on top but Savage is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mc Elroy engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Savage is looking to sweep but instead, Mc Elroy has passed into half guard.
Savage wants to get back to full guard but Mc Elroy has passed into side control. Savage looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Mc Elroy working the body and head with strikes. Savage defending against the ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Check out the look on Mc Elroy's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Savage can't do much from the bottom here. Mc Elroy lands a decent elbow from side control. Mc Elroy grinds an elbow into Savage's temple. Mc Elroy scores with a couple of short elbows. Mc Elroy throwing shots but missing, from side control. The ground and pound from Mc Elroy seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Mc Elroy advances to mount. Mc Elroy looking to control but Savage is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Mc Elroy working away from the top, dropping strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Danny Mc Elroy dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Savage lands with a nice body punch. A slow jab from Savage misses its intended target. Savage lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
It looks like Danny Mc Elroy has been cut. Savage throws a hook but Mc Elroy avoids it easily. Savage fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Mc Elroy looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Mc Elroy tries to clinch and Savage counters with a nice uppercut. Mc Elroy shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Savage counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Mc Elroy feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Savage pulls Mc Elroy in close to prevent any damage. Savage is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Mc Elroy stands up over Savage, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Danny Mc Elroy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Mc Elroy trying to control but Savage is working from the bottom. Mc Elroy pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Savage is keeping the position for now. Mc Elroy content to stall in guard here. Mc Elroy trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Mc Elroy content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Mc Elroy in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Mc Elroy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Savage swivels though and keeps the full guard. Mc Elroy makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Savage is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Savage tries to land a sweep but no joy. Mc Elroy wants to control from the top but Savage keeps moving. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Savage tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Mc Elroy moves out of range of the strikes. Mc Elroy half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Savage misses with a hook. Mc Elroy doesn't succeed with the takedown and Savage counters with a straight right hand. Danny Mc Elroy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mc Elroy fails with an attempt to clinch.
Savage looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Mc Elroy gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Savage manages to break the clinch.
Mc Elroy decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Mc Elroy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Savage trying to control but Mc Elroy postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Mc Elroy winds up and cracks Savage with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Savage makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Savage. Mc Elroy preventing the sweep. Savage keeps trying to improve his position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Mc Elroy is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mc Elroy wants to control from the top but Savage keeps moving. That was a close second round but I would say that Danny Mc Elroy will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Danny Mc Elroy's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Savage displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mc Elroy. Mc Elroy ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Savage throws a body shot but no joy. Mc Elroy dives in for a single leg takedown but Savage sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Mc Elroy ducks under a wild hook from Savage. Mc Elroy shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Danny Mc Elroy. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mc Elroy rushes Savage and presses him up against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Savage is defending well against a takedown attempt. Savage breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Mc Elroy closes this distance looking for a takedown but Savage circles away. Vandall Savage seems to be getting the better of the standup. Savage jabbing away but nothing is landing. Savage misses with a right hand and Mc Elroy counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Savage tries to land a sweep but no joy. Savage is controlling Mc Elroy's posture. Mc Elroy avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Danny Mc Elroy is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Savage has his hands on Mc Elroy's head, controlling the position. That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Savage can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Mc Elroy controls the pace. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Savage trying to keep a closed guard but Mc Elroy is proving a slippery customer.

Mc Elroy tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Savage swivels and escapes. A jab from Savage misses. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Mc Elroy ducks under a wild hook from Savage. Mc Elroy tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Savage connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
And that's the end of the fight! Vandall Savage comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Mc Elroy has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In defeat, Vandall Savage stepped up to the mic, saying 'bad match up, should not have accepted this mis match.'.
