PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tim Corsi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lee The saint (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Corsi comes to the cage accompanied by Womanizer by Britney Spears. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Tim Corsi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Lee The saint!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Paul Tew and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The saint shoots in but Corsi avoids the takedown attempt easily.
The saint shoots for a double leg takedown but Corsi sprawls well. He's pushed The saint's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
The saint misses with a double jab.
A head kick misses from Corsi.
Nice sprawl there from Corsi as The saint shoots in.
Tim Corsi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lee The saint.

Corsi shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Corsi postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for The saint to stand up.

The saint gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Corsi passes into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Corsi blocks the strikes from The saint.
Corsi is trying to control. The saint wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Corsi prevents The saint from standing back up.
Corsi is keen to just control but The saint is a slippery customer.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Corsi stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows The saint to get to his feet.

Corsi shoots in and bounces The saint off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The saint wants to stand and escape but Corsi is having none of it.
Corsi could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The saint is looking to stand back up but Corsi counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by The saint.
The saint looks gassed!
The saint flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Corsi wants to control but The saint is keeping him busy.

The saint manages to escape and get back to his feet!
The saint throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
No joy there for Corsi, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
The saint shoots and misses

and Corsi counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for The saint!
The saint is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The saint tries to lock up and control but Corsi gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The saint sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Corsi content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Corsi is looking to take a break and control but The saint is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The saint kicks off Corsi and gets to his feet.

Corsi feints and as The saint raises his hands in defense, Corsi changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The saint wants to stand up but Corsi is controlling him.
Corsi might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The saint is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Corsi dives into side control.
The saint is letting Corsi control him for a moment.
Corsi has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Corsi misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Corsi wants to stand but The saint is controlling his arm.
The saint is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

The saint sneaks out the side door and pushes Corsi away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Corsi shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
The saint scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Corsi shoots in but no luck this time.
The saint misses with a double jab

and Corsi counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in The saint's guard now.
Corsi stops The saint from standing up.

The saint pushes Corsi off and scrambles back to his feet.
The saint has his takedown stuffed

and Corsi counters with a nice double leg into side control. The saint won't be happy with that.
Corsi really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...

Corsi wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by The saint, who protects the arm well.
The saint is looking for a sweep.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The saint tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tim Corsi dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Corsi shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
The saint is desperately trying to improve his position but Corsi has a good base and remains in mount.
The saint is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
The saint keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The saint is trying to stand up.
Corsi punishing his opponent with strikes.
The saint is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Corsi landing strikes from the mount and The saint is in trouble!
Corsi trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Corsi looking to finish The saint with some ground and pound. This is bad for The saint!

The saint tries to improve his position but instead Corsi has taken his back!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Corsi is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. The saint knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften The saint for a finish.
The saint is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Corsi wants to control but The saint is keeping busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The saint controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
Corsi slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
The saint wants to get back to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The saint manages to get to his feet, escaping the difficult position.
Lee The saint seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Corsi avoids a punch combination nicely.
Corsi throws a head kick that misses.
The saint throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Corsi.
The saint misses with a wild combination.
The saint tries for a takedown but Corsi circles away easily

and Corsi counters by clinching up.

The saint wants to get back to striking at distance but Corsi won't allow it.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, The saint creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

The saint manages to break the clinch.

The saint shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

The saint decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Corsi, up you get!

The saint is trying to buck Corsi off.
The saint tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
The saint is wriggling around trying to escape.
The referee warns The saint that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The saint keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

The saint wants to get back to his feet.
The saint trying to control the hands but Corsi won't let him.
The saint is trying to stand back up.

The saint looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Corsi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Corsi stands up.
Corsi misses with the combination.
No joy there for The saint, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

The saint darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Corsi is refusing to be controlled, as The saint sits in half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The saint with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

The saint escapes and gets back to his feet.
Corsi is on the wrong end of a nice combination from The saint.
Corsi doesn't manage to clinch there - The saint circles away.
The saint throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Corsi moves into the clinch.
Corsi drops to a knee looking for a takedown but The saint gets the underhooks and prevents it.
The saint is looking to break free of the clinch but Corsi has double underhooks.
Corsi lands an elbow just above The saint 's eye.
Corsi is trying to drag The saint to the mat but The saint just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
The saint wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

The saint wants to stall.
Corsi tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. The saint just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tim Corsi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The saint wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Corsi has him pressed against the cage.
Corsi tries for a takedown but The saint manages to get underhooks.
The saint lands with a short shot to the head.
The saint is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Corsi gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Corsi prevents The saint from breaking the clinch.

The saint's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The saint wants to clinch.
The saint takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

The saint throws a nice inside leg kick.

The saint takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Corsi slips under a jab from The saint.
Corsi fails with an attempt to clinch.
The saint throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

The saint decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The saint decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
The saint throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Corsi counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for The saint!
Corsi blocks The saint's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
The saint swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
The saint tries to control the position but Corsi now has his back.
Good control from Corsi.
Tim Corsi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The saint is trying to get back to his feet but Corsi has full control of the position and if anything, The saint has just worked his way into a worse spot.

The saint prevents Corsi from getting a body triangle.
The saint controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.

Corsi is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because The saint is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The saint is trying to get back to his feet. He's worked up on to his knees and now he's on his feet with his head on the canvas, trying to shake Corsi off. It looks like it's working - Corsi slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! The saint displaying calm under pressure there.
Lee The saint has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
This has been an exciting period of action!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Corsi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The saint escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Corsi gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

And that's the end of the fight!
Tim Corsi showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Corsi, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
