Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Gilliam (ranked 5141 p4p, 478 weight class) and Johnny Submarine (ranked 23695 p4p, 590 weight class). Johnny Submarine is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bruce Gilliam! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Johnny Submarine! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gilliam lands a right hook to the body.
Submarine on the wrong end of a nice hook. Submarine darts in looking for a takedown but Gilliam gets double underhooks and turns Submarine into the ropes. Submarine throws a series of strikes that have Gilliam backpedaling.
Gilliam misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gilliam throws the left hand but Submarine avoids the punch easily. Gilliam shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Submarine's guard. Submarine has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the ropes to get back to his feet. Gilliam has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the ropes. I was talking to Gilliam's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gilliam lands a shoulder strike. Gilliam looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Submarine. Submarine stalling in the clinch but Gilliam improves position. Gilliam turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Submarine is trying to control Gilliam's posture but Gilliam avoids it. Submarine gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Submarine trying to hold on to Gilliam's head to control him but Gilliam postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Submarine manages to get to full guard.
Submarine working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gilliam doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Submarine is tightening it up a little... Gilliam has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Gilliam reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Gilliam taps out! Nice BJJ there by Submarine!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Johnny Submarine! Johnny Submarine tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
