Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tony Park! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Beef Stew! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A big right from Stew misses. Stew throws a sloppy head kick and Park counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Park is keen to just control but Stew is a slippery customer. Park lands strikes from half guard. Park has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Park thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Stew's head. Still in half guard, Park seems content to control. Park missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Park lands with a punch from half guard. Stew really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Park. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Park sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Stew defending well though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Park not landing any meaningful shots this time. Park wants to free his trapped foot but Stew is holding on for dear life with his legs. Park looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Stew with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Park throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Park lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Park seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Ground and pound from Park. Nice strikes from Park there. Park missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Park missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Park throwing shots but Stew is blocking nicely. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Park lands a nice short elbow. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Park throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Park drops an elbow to the side of Stew's head. Park seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Stew is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
