Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
24 - 47 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Johannes Maanpohja! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
37 - 28 - 4, fighting out of Helsinki, Marek Koltun! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Trevor Gratis and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Koltun leaves Maanpohja with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. A momentary lapse in concentration from Maanpohja enables Koltun to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Maanpohja manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Koltun working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Koltun wants to pass the guard but Maanpohja is keeping the position. Koltun not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Maanpohja might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Maanpohja has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Koltun can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Koltun stays in close to Maanpohja's body and controls the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Koltun's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Maanpohja looking for a guillotine here but Koltun defends easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Koltun wants to pass the guard but Maanpohja is defending well. We've been hearing good reports from Maanpohja's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Koltun is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Maanpohja is working to get back to half guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Koltun lands a big shot there that rocks Maanpohja but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Maanpohja is rocked! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Koltun putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Oh Maanpohja is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Maanpohja slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Maanpohja has hold of Koltun's hands but Koltun slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Koltun is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Maanpohja looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Koltun moves into full mount! Maanpohja won't be happy about that! Maanpohja seems to have got his legs back now. Koltun scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Koltun tries to control but Maanpohja wriggling away. Koltun with good strikes from the mount here! Koltun has hold of Maanpohja's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Maanpohja manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Koltun lands a heavy elbow. Koltun looking to control but Maanpohja is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Koltun fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Maanpohja is desperately trying to improve his position but Koltun has a good base and remains in mount. Koltun cracks Maanpohja with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Marek Koltun! Marek Koltun took to the mic in his post fight interview and said 'I'm the champ. Now time to go get a piece of ass.'.
