Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Matt Rodriguez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Elie Bergeron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bergeron has chosen It's My Life as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. This should be fireworks!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rodriguez darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Rodriguez controlling the action here. Rodriguez is working for a kimura but Bergeron is defending it quite comfortably.

Bergeron is looking for a sweep. Rodriguez is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Bergeron is concentrating on defense, preventing Rodriguez from advancing position. Bergeron wants to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Rodriguez seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bergeron does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Bergeron tries to kick Rodriguez off but Rodriguez keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Rodriguez stalks Bergeron and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Bergeron's face. Bergeron staggers backwards, shaken. Bergeron looks gassed! Rodriguez shoots in but no luck this time. Rodriguez looks for a takedown but Bergeron sprawls well. A combination from Bergeron does no damage. Rodriguez shoots for a double leg takedown but Bergeron sprawls well. He's pushed Rodriguez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Rodriguez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rodriguez swats away the attempt to clinch by Bergeron. Bergeron throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Rodriguez stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Bergeron moves in looking to clinch but Rodriguez pushes him off. Bergeron misses with a series of wild punches.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Bergeron regains full guard. Nicely done. Rodriguez won't allow Bergeron to sweep him here. Bergeron keeping moving, preventing Rodriguez from controlling successfully. Bergeron is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Bergeron bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rodriguez's guard. Bergeron tries to free his leg and advance position but Rodriguez is retaining full guard. Rodriguez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bergeron gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Rodriguez keeping moving, preventing Bergeron from controlling successfully. Bergeron stands up from guard. Let's bang! Bergeron tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rodriguez paws at him with a jab and circles away. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rodriguez. Rodriguez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bergeron tries to avoid it but Rodriguez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bergeron to the ground. Bergeron escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Rodriguez is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Rodriguez trying to control the position from guard on top but Bergeron is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bergeron is on top in guard.
Bergeron gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Bergeron jabbing away but nothing is landing. Bergeron takes the fight into the clinch. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Rodriguez drops down looking for an ankle pick but Bergeron pulls his leg out and moves away.
Rodriguez shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Bergeron's guard. Matt Rodriguez is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Rodriguez closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Bergeron to the mat! Bergeron manages to get full guard. Rodriguez trying to control the position from guard on top but Bergeron is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Rodriguez won't allow Bergeron to get back to his feet. Bergeron thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Rodriguez is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Bergeron wants to stand but Rodriguez is controlling the position. Elie Bergeron has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Rodriguez preventing the sweep.
And that's the end of the fight! Matt Rodriguez showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rodriguez, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
