Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kasey Scorpion (ranked 57 p4p, 9 weight class) and Brownie Anderson (ranked 339 p4p, 45 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Scorpion might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Jiu Jitsu. Anderson is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by !!!. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kasey Scorpion!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Brownie Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Scorpion as Anderson shoots in.
A quick step to the side and Scorpion tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Anderson staying out of range there.
Scorpion takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Anderson lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Scorpion at a distance.
Anderson is looking to clinch.

Scorpion gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Scorpion lands a nice uppercut.
Anderson misses with an elbow over the top.
Scorpion working aggressively here.
Anderson swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Scorpion misses with a body punch.

Anderson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Anderson dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Anderson throws a left and a right that both miss
and Scorpion counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Anderson rushes Scorpion and presses him up against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Scorpion misses with some punches.
Anderson tries to land knees in the clinch but Scorpion avoids the damage to the body.

Scorpion taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Scorpion has a couple of punches blocked by Anderson.
Anderson is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Scorpion is defending well for now.
A frustrated look appears on Anderson's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Anderson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Anderson throws a series of punches but Scorpion avoids them all with ease.

Scorpion moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.


It looks like Brownie Anderson has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Anderson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Scorpion was well out of range. Poor timing from Anderson.
Anderson takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Anderson looks to land a combination. Scorpion sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Anderson gets tackled into the cage by Scorpion. Scorpion maintains the clinch.
A short uppercut from Scorpion.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Scorpion.
Scorpion misses with the head strike.
Scorpion lands with a short punch from the clinch.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Scorpion creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
A head punch on the inside from Scorpion fails to land.
Scorpion tries to work over Anderson's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Scorpion struggles to land a body shot inside as Anderson controls his hands.
Scorpion misses with a hook to the ribs.
Anderson is trying to maintain a safe position but Scorpion gets an underhook and turns Anderson into the cage.
Anderson blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Anderson slows down the pace here.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Scorpion.
Scorpion content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Scorpion tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Anderson's elbow.
Still in the clinch, Scorpion scores with a nice short uppercut.
Anderson prevents a body shot from Scorpion.
Scorpion tries to work over Anderson's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Scorpion really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Scorpion pushes Anderson back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Anderson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Anderson wants to clinch up but Scorpion keeps it at a distance.
Anderson walks into a jab.
Scorpion throws a big shot that misses.
Scorpion connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Sloppy strikes from Anderson. Those never looked like landing.

Scorpion dodges the punch combination from Anderson.
Anderson misses with a lunging right hand
and Scorpion counters with a straight right hand.

Anderson tries to sprawl but Scorpion drives through with a takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Scorpion not doing much here.
Anderson wants to get back to his feet.
Scorpion wants to lay and pray for a moment but Anderson keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kasey Scorpion dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Brownie Anderson's cut.

Scorpion moves away from the strike by Anderson.
Scorpion swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
A nice inside leg kick there by Anderson. That's going to slow Scorpion down.
The fight stays on the outside here - Scorpion looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Anderson looks to land a combination. Scorpion sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Scorpion throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Anderson was covering up waiting for the punch and Scorpion finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Scorpion trying to control the position from guard on top but Anderson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Scorpion has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Anderson wants to sweep but no luck.
Scorpion tries to free his leg and advance position but Anderson is retaining full guard.

Scorpion trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Scorpion looking to sit in guard and control but Anderson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Scorpion preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Anderson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Scorpion has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Anderson has managed to get both his arms back between Scorpion's legs - danger averted.
Anderson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Scorpion is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Anderson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Anderson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Scorpion is looking for a sweep.

Scorpion is working hard here to advance position.

Anderson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Scorpion has escaped the position, nice work there.

Anderson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Scorpion, who protects the arm well.
Scorpion manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Anderson uses his free foot to push down on Scorpion's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Scorpion.

Anderson looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Anderson tries to control but Scorpion wriggling away.
Anderson throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Scorpion because Anderson loaded up on that one.
Anderson looking to ground and pound but Scorpion is blocking nicely.
Scorpion really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Brownie Anderson has got the better of the ground game so far.

Anderson is working for a guillotine from mount but Scorpion frees his head quite easily.

Anderson looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Scorpion tries to reverse the position but Anderson maintains control.
Scorpion slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Anderson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Anderson maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Scorpion could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Anderson has cracked it and Scorpion is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Anderson!
