Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josh Aguirre! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Nettles! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Aguirre shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Nettles sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Aguirre lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Aguirre scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Aguirre is keen to just control but Nettles is a slippery customer. Aguirre is looking for a kimura but Nettles is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Aguirre to get the leverage. Aguirre takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Aguirre missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Nettles is controlling Aguirre's trapped leg to prevent Aguirre from advancing to side control. Aguirre is trying to control the action in half guard but Nettles is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nettles keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Nettles wants to get back to full guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Nettles can do anything to dispel that myth. Nettles trying to control here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aguirre is looking to stall here but Nettles recovers full guard. Aguirre trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Aguirre pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Nettles stuffs the takedown attempt from Aguirre. Aguirre gets slowly back to his feet. A telegraphed right hand from Aguirre misses the target. Nettles with a lazy takedown attempt and Aguirre counters with a shoot takedown. Nettles fights it but they end up in guard. Nettles looking to hit a scissor sweep but Aguirre is one step ahead there. Nettles really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Aguirre. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Nettles is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Nettles wants to stand but Aguirre is controlling the position. Nettles looks gassed!

Nettles utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Nettles looking to hit a scissor sweep but Aguirre is one step ahead there. Aguirre stands up from Nettles's guard - Aguirre perhaps looking for a knockout. Nettles misses with a hook. Nice jab there from Aguirre.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Aguirre looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Nettles stuffs the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Josh Aguirre. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nettles drives through and clinches with Aguirre against the cage.
Nettles pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Aguirre scores with a hook to the body. Nettles takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Nettles lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Nettles misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Aguirre closes the distance and clinches up with Nettles, looking for a takedown. Aguirre pushes Nettles against the cage but Nettles circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Aguirre gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Nettles prevents Aguirre from breaking the clinch. Aguirre wants to get back to striking at distance but Nettles won't allow it.
Aguirre is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Nettles jumps guard and drags Aguirre to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Aguirre has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Nettles is proving hard to escape from. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Aguirre accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Aguirre stands up from Nettles's guard - Aguirre perhaps looking for a knockout. Aguirre closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Aguirre decides to stand back up. Aguirre steps back and let's Nettles get back to his feet. Chris Nettles seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Aguirre throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Nettles walks forward, straight into a front kick from Aguirre. Nettles misses with a combination
enabling Aguirre to counter with a crisp jab. Nettles shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Aguirre counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Nettles! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Aguirre won't let Nettles get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Aguirre thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Aguirre keeps the fight on the outside. Nettles misses with a kick to the body and Aguirre decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Nettles's guard. Nettles being controlled here, momentarily. Aguirre is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Nettles is controlling Aguirre's posture. Aguirre has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Nettles keeping moving, preventing Aguirre from controlling successfully. Nettles has momentary wrist control but Aguirre slips an elbow through the middle. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Aguirre is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Aguirre is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Nettles is trying to maintain the position but Aguirre is very close to passing his half guard. Nettles is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Aguirre pulls his head out easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Nettles showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Aguirre is trying to control the position from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight! Josh Aguirre showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Aguirre, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
