PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dennis Baker (ranked 8343 p4p, 0 weight class) and Prince Andrey (ranked 7780 p4p, 0 weight class). Andrey has chosen King of the ring as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baker shoots and misses
and Andrey counters with a two punch combo.
Baker tries to score a power double leg takedown but Andrey sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Baker somewhat.

Baker gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Andrey to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Baker goes for a double leg but Andrey avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Andrey continues to drive forward.

Andrey shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Baker's guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Baker shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Andrey pinned against the cage. Andrey gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Baker is trying hard to land a takedown here. Andrey sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Baker could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Andrey feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Baker enables Andrey to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Baker manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
