Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Diego Escobar (ranked 42 p4p, 7 weight class) and Kendo Hirigushi (ranked 158 p4p, 19 weight class). Diego Escobar has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Diego Escobar! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Kendo Hirigushi! The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Illya Tyunina and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Escobar tries a head kick but it misses.
Escobar lands a nice looking body shot.
Escobar has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Escobar scores with a sloppy right hand. Hirigushi should have avoided that one. Hirigushi walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Hirigushi is rocked! A jab from Escobar misses. Hirigushi is still on wobbly legs! Can Escobar finish him? Escobar feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Hirigushi's calf. Hirigushi seems to have recovered his senses.
That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Escobar rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Escobar takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
It looks like Diego Escobar has been cut. A decent looking body kick lands there for Escobar. Escobar throws a lazy body kick and Hirigushi counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Escobar throws a low kick but Hirigushi moves out of range easily. A little jabbing left from Hirigushi on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Escobar lands a nice leg kick that just misses Hirigushi's sensitive parts. Diego Escobar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. An inside leg kick lands from Escobar.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Escobar throws a head kick that misses. Hirigushi swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Escobar misses with a straight right. Hirigushi looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Escobar scores with a shot to the body.
Escobar throws a leg kick but Hirigushi moved away. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Hirigushi! But no joy. Escobar tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Hirigushi is looking for the big counter here. Escobar looking to land some kicks to the body here.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Escobar throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Escobar throws a leg kick and Hirigushi counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Hirigushi bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Hirigushi swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Escobar throws a quick inside leg kick. A low kick from Escobar misses enabling Hirigushi to counter with a crisp jab. Hirigushi displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Escobar throws out the jab.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Escobar uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Escobar swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Escobar throws a lazy uppercut
and Hirigushi cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Escobar throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Hirigushi blocks a head kick by Escobar.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Diego Escobar dominated that round. The cut man is working on Diego Escobar's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Hirigushi gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Escobar ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Escobar moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

Hirigushi is looking for the big counter here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Escobar lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

That's one minute gone in the round. Hirigushi takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Escobar scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Escobar cracks Hirigushi with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Escobar has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Hirigushi to stand back up! Escobar feints and then cracks Hirigushi's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Hirigushi down. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Escobar attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. A shot to the body from Escobar misses and Hirigushi counters with a straight right hand. Diego Escobar is winning the standup battle so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Escobar drops Hirigushi with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Hirigushi looks back up at him and smiles so Escobar waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Escobar lands with a massive overhand right! Stick a fork in Hirigushi - he's out cold! Ermm... I think I just mixed my metaphors but yeah... That was a nice KO! Big win for Escobar!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Diego Escobar! Diego Escobar retains his featherweight title! Diego Escobar was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
