Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chase Pace (ranked 7556 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jackie Daniels (ranked 6589 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chase Pace!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jackie Daniels!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Thiago Cunha and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pace is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Daniels's half guard.
Daniels should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Pace is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Daniels trying to control but Pace postures up.
Pace is taking a breather. Daniels says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Pace working Daniels over with strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Daniels is trying to get back to full guard.
Pace moves into side control, avoiding the strikes from Daniels.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A lull in the action here as Pace stalls from top position.
Daniels tries to buck Pace off but Pace is having none of it.
Daniels manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Pace not doing much here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Daniels shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Pace pinned against the cage. Pace gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Daniels misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Pace clinches with his opponent.
Daniels wants to break free but Pace has control.
Pace jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Daniels walks away with a smile on his face. Pace gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Daniels scores with a head kick.

Pace gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Pace effectively controlling the action here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Daniels avoids the elbow strike from Pace, against the cage.

Pace breaks from the clinch.
Daniels keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Daniels throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Pace.
Daniels looks to land a combination but Pace avoids it well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Daniels tries to keep at a distance but Pace has taken the fight into the clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pace is stalling here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Chase Pace will probably get the nod.
That's time! Pace's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Daniels tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
It looked like Pace was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Pace closes the distance and clinches.
Pace tries to pull guard but Daniels forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Pace breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Pace shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Daniels being controlled here, momentarily.
Pace's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Pace's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Pace sitting in guard here, content to control.
Pace has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Daniels tries to clinch up
and Pace counters with a series of strikes. Daniels will be more careful next time no doubt.
Daniels doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Pace counters by moving into the clinch.
Daniels fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Pace tries a knee to the head but Daniels blocks it.

Pace pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Daniels pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Pace.
Daniels feints the counter takedown.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Daniels lands a really nice looking cross but Pace seems unphased.
Pace throws a body punch but Daniels moves out of range.
And Daniels responds with a good body kick, but Pace manages to step out the way in time.

Pace clinches with his opponent.

Daniels is fighting off a takedown attempt but Pace is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Daniels to the mat. Daniels regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Pace is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Daniels trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Daniels is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pace distracts Daniels with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Daniels wants to sweep here but Pace controlling him for the moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Daniels lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chase Pace dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Daniels will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Pace closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Pace blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Pace is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Daniels can do to turn this around?
Pace stalling.

Pace escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Daniels tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Daniels wants to clinch.
Pace is looking for a counter combo.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Daniels fails in his attempt to clinch.
Pace swats away the attempt to clinch by Daniels.

Daniels throws a head kick but Pace moves out of range.
Daniels doesn't manage to clinch there - Pace circles away.
Pace fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Pace shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Daniels kicks Pace off and gets back to his feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Daniels.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Daniels goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Chase Pace is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Daniels stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Daniels wants it to stay on the feet.
Daniels tries to close the distance and clinch but Pace swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Daniels uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Pace has time to react.

Pace clinches up against the cage.
Daniels is pressed up against the cage. Pace has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Daniels down to the mat. Daniels avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chase Pace. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Pace moves into the clinch successfully.
Daniels takes an elbow to the temple.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pace leaning his opponent against the cage.
Pace tries to pull guard but Daniels forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Pace is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Daniels to keep the fight standing.

Pace breaks the clinch.
Jackie Daniels has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Daniels throws a half hearted mid kick.
Daniels shoots in for a double leg but Pace sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Daniels misses the jab.
Pace tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Daniels defends well and Pace ends up having to push Daniels into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Daniels shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Daniels takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Pace instigates a clinch.
Pace stalling against the cage.
Pace displaying some good clinch control by pressing Daniels up against the cage.
Chase Pace has scored more points in the clinch so far.
Daniels tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Pace just stands there and leans against the cage.
Pace gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Daniels wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Pace blocks a body shot from Daniels.
A bit of stalling here from Pace.
Chase Pace is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Daniels.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Chase Pace.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Pace, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
