Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kerry Howarth! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Buzz! The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Igor Prikhodko and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Buzz displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Howarth throws out the jab. Howarth fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Buzz manages to avoid it. Howarth just misses with a punch to the body.
Buzz throws a nice looking combination but Howarth bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Howarth tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Buzz manages to circle out of the way. Buzz cracks Howarth with an open hand slap. Buzz moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Howarth throws a right and a left that both miss. Buzz looks like he wants to counter punch here. Buzz with a nice cross. Howarth walks into a jab. Buzz cracks Howarth with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Buzz throws a series of punches but Howarth moves out of range. Howarth swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Howarth looks to score with a jab to the body but Buzz is just out of range. Sloppy strikes from Howarth. Those never looked like landing. Buzz scores with a jab. Buzz uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Howarth. Howarth scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Buzz thuds his right hand into Howarth's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Howarth throws a looping overhand right but Buzz ducks down to avoid it. Buzz bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Howarth's head. Buzz works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Howarth shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. A big left from Howarth misses. Howarth lands a jab.
It looks like John Buzz has been cut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Howarth cracks Buzz on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Buzz falls backwards against the cage. Howarth follows up with more strikes that drop Buzz to his knees. Howarth keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Buzz! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:06 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kerry Howarth!
