Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Devin Forte (ranked 2674 p4p, 268 weight class) and Kaz Fujita (ranked 2883 p4p, 289 weight class). Devin Forte has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Devin Forte! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kaz Fujita! The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Sandra Marshall and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Forte shoots for a takedown but Fujita saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Fujita misses the jab. Fujita connects with a body shot. Fujita throws a body shot but no joy. Fujita has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. Forte throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Fujita's waist but Fujita gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Forte off to one side. Forte changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Fujita tries to avoid it but Forte manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Fujita to the ground. Fujita escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Devin Forte. That's going to take a lot out of him. Forte on the wrong end of a nice hook. Fujita smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Forte is defended easily by Fujita. Forte has been working on his balance at Cozad The Island, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Fujita. Fujita ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Forte moves away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fujita connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Fujita connects with a looping right hand.

and Forte counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Fujita makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Forte shoots and misses and Fujita counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Forte has his takedown stuffed and Fujita counters with a stiff right hand. Forte bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Forte shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Fujita defends it nicely.

and Forte counters with a nice double leg into guard. Forte connects with a couple of short punches. Fujita seems keen to control Forte's posture. Forte scoring with punches to the head and body. Forte throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Fujita is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Forte throws a big right hand that misses. Forte thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Fujita seems keen to control Forte's posture. Forte throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Forte got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fujita has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Forte has managed to get both his arms back between Fujita's legs - danger averted. Forte could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Forte's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Forte trying to control the position from guard on top but Fujita is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Fujita wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Forte working some strikes from top position. Forte throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Fujita works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Forte working some strikes from top position. Forte throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Forte lands a couple of elbows. Forte is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Forte cracks Fujita with a solid left hand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fujita pulls Forte in close to his closed guard and prevents Forte from doing any damage or advancing position. Fujita keeping moving, preventing Forte from controlling successfully. Forte throws a big elbow that misses. Forte with a nice head shot there. Forte will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Forte throwing strikes but missing. Forte wants to control from the top but Fujita keeps moving. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kaz Fujita dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Fujita has momentary wrist control but Forte slips an elbow through the middle. Fujita is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Fujita is rocked! Forte distracts Fujita with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Fujita is still in real trouble! Can Forte finish him? Forte arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Fujita's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
