Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jim Jones (ranked 2594 p4p, 278 weight class) and Joao Neves (ranked 2679 p4p, 285 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joao Neves!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Daniel Bishop and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Neves avoids the body shot from Jones.
Jones wants to clinch but Neves slips to the side
and Neves counters with a stiff right hand.
Neves ducks under a wild hook from Jones.
Neves takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Jones seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Jones jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Jones misses with a shot to the body
and Neves counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Nice jab there from Jones.
Jones staying out of range there.
Jones fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Neves looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Jones fails with an attempt to clinch.
It seemed like Neves was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Jones dips to his left and cracks Neves with an uppercut!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jones tries to clinch but Neves moves away
and Neves counters with a lovely straight right hand!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Neves.
It seemed like Neves was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Jones misses with a lunging right hand
and Neves cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Jones tries to clinch
and Neves counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Jones throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Neves looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Jones scores with a shot to the body.
Jones slips a straight right by Neves.
Jones connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Neves momentarily.
Jones moves in looking to clinch but Neves pushes him off.
Jones tries to clinch
letting Neves counter with a right hand.
Neves waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Jones.
Jones tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Jones takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Neves misses with a body shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jones bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up but Neves swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Neves appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Jones moves in looking to clinch but Neves pushes him off.
Neves looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Jones tests Neves's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Jones digs a good hook to Neves's body.
Jim Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Neves swats away the attempt to clinch by Jones.
A little jabbing left from Neves on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Jab from Jones.


It looks like Joao Neves has been cut.
Jones uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Neves.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jones tries to grapple but his opponent circles
enabling Neves to counter with a crisp jab.

Jones moves into the clinch.
Neves goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Neves blocking some punches.
Neves pushes Jones back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Neves breaks the clinch.
Donk. Jones catches Neves right on the button with a cross.
Jones fails with an attempt to clinch.
Neves swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Jones takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Neves avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Neves! But no joy.
A slow jab from Jones misses its intended target.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jones tries to clinch up but Neves circles away and keeps his distance.
Neves looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Jones connects with a crisp jab.
Jones is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Neves showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Jones.
Neves unleashes a big counter combination but Jones bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jones tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Neves counters with a straight right hand.
Jones misses with a left hand
and Neves counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Jones misses with a wild combination.
Jones slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jim Jones will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Joao Neves's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Jones scores with a jab. Neves acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Neves lands with a right hand.
Jones misses with a double jab
and Neves scores with a counter punch that sends Jones to the canvas! Neves smells blood - he's punishing Jones with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Jones has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:16 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joao Neves!
After winning the bout, Joao Neves thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
In defeat, Jim Jones stepped up to the mic, saying 'Kiss my ass.'.
