Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hugo Abbot (ranked 4953 p4p, 449 weight class) and John De Hahler (ranked 7780 p4p, 549 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hugo Abbot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John De Hahler!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Paul Gruel and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

De Hahler gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Abbot to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Abbot trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Abbot is in close to De Hahler's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Abbot throws a big elbow that misses.
De Hahler bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Abbot's guard.

De Hahler slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
De Hahler slows the pace down in half guard.
De Hahler thows a huge punch but Abbot dodges it nicely.
We've been hearing good reports from Abbot's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with De Hahler in particular looking to stall.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Abbot turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Abbot lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear De Hahler down.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Abbot creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
We've been informed that De Hahler has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Abbot is looking to take a break and control but De Hahler is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Abbot is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. De Hahler knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

De Hahler has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Abbot can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Abbot takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Abbot rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but De Hahler moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Abbot tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but De Hahler paws at him with a jab and circles away.
De Hahler throws a hook but Abbot blocks it.

Abbot is pushing De Hahler up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Abbot tries a body shot but De Hahler blocks it.
De Hahler goes for a takedown attempt but Abbot pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
De Hahler is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Abbot.

Abbot throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. De Hahler was covering up waiting for the punch and Abbot finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for De Hahler. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Abbot drops back looking for a leg! De Hahler is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and De Hahler manages to kick Abbot off! Abbot jumps back into De Hahler's guard.
