Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sonny Jack (ranked 8054 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kari Halifax (ranked 6681 p4p, 0 weight class). Kari Halifax will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sonny Jack! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kari Halifax ! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Matheus Silva and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jack rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Halifax moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Jack shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Jack was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Jack cracks Halifax with a big right hand but Halifax just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Halifax trying to remain calm as Jack controls from the top position. Jack will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. A bit of a lull in the action here. You can see the frustration on Halifax 's face as Jack controls the position. Halifax struggling a bit here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jack taking a breather here. Jack tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jack lands an elbow. Jack in side control lands a decent elbow. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Halifax tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Jack wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Jack cracks Halifax with a big elbow. Halifax tries to buck Jack off but Jack is having none of it. Jack scores with a couple of short elbows. Jack lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Halifax down.
Jack lands an elbow. Jack has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jack controlling the position. Jack scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Halifax to see if he's OK. Jack remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Halifax can do anything to dispel that myth. Jack working the head and body with strikes. Jack clinches up against the cage. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Halifax has eaten all the pies! Jack stalling in the clinch but Halifax improves position. Halifax blocks an uppercut.

Halifax lands with a short head shot on the inside. Jack goes for a takedown attempt but Halifax pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Some bone on bone action there as Halifax checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Jack closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. That's one minute gone in the round. Jack wants to take a breather but Halifax is having none of it. Jack takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Sonny Jack overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Nice strikes from Jack there. Halifax tries to get to full guard but Jack has control of the leg. Halifax wants to control but Jack is keeping busy.

That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Jack landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jack connects with a nice short shot to Halifax 's temple. Halifax has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jack is working away from the top position though. Jack is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Halifax sees it coming and defends easily. Halifax trying to hold on to Jack's head to control him but Jack postures up.

Jack works his way into full mount! Jack lands a big shot there that rocks Halifax but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Jack lands a big elbow. Jack has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Halifax 's face.
Halifax is rocked! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Halifax breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. An inside leg kick from Jack misses. Halifax slaps away a takedown attempt from Jack, before circling back to the center of the mat. It seemed like Halifax was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sonny Jack. That's going to take a lot out of him. Halifax wants to clinch up but Jack keeps it at a distance. Halifax looks to land a right hand but Jack moved out of range. Jack is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Halifax can do to turn this around? Jack throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Halifax swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Jack. Halifax blocks a low kick nicely. Halifax drops Jack with a beautiful combination! Jack stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Halifax is looking for the KO!
Jack is rocked! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Nice uppercut lands for Halifax . That snapped Jack's head back.
Oh Jack is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! OH! Jack has been rocked by a huge right hand and is in deep trouble! Halifax smells blood and charges in for the finish! Halifax unloads a vicious overhand right and connects to the jaw of Jack sending him face first to the canvas! Unbelievable!
